    Abstract: Some precision guidance systems and methods for detecting the position and orientation of one or more magnetic sources are disclosed. The precision guidance system can include a magneto-optical defect center sensor and a controller. The controller can be configured to detect one or more axial components of a magnetic source. Each of the one or more axial components can have a unique, predetermined magnetic signature. The controller can determine a position and orientation of the magnetic source based on the one or more axial components and output the determined position and orientation of the magnetic source to a guidance system.
