Publication number: 20050155079Abstract: A method of operating a communications system storing assets for later transmission, is disclosed. The assets have respective expiration dates beyond which a right to transmit expires. The method comprises checking an expiration date of an asset and deleting the asset from storage based, at least in part, on the expiration date, a predetermined period of time added to or subtracted from the expiration date and/or whether the asset has been selected for later viewing. The predetermined period of time may provide a grace period for completing viewing of a selected asset by a user, either after or before the expiration date, depending on the rights to the asset granted by the source of the asset. The period of time may depend on a playtime of the asset and may be added to the expiration date only if the asset has been selected for viewing. Publication number: 20030021502Abstract: The instant invention includes a two-piece interlocking wear bearing insert 10. The wear bearing insert 10 of the instant invention utilizes a complementary two-piece design that prevents rotation of the entire assembly in a groove 16 of one reciprocating element. A plurality of lubrication slots 28 and 38 in a respective axial edge of each interlocking element 20 and 40 facilitates even distribution of lubricants. Slots 28 and 38 may be molded into the interlocking elements 20 and 40, thereby obviating the need to machine holes into the wear bearing insert 10 material. Each element 20 and 40 contains an axial slot 26 and 46, respectively, wherein each slot axially extends through a relatively narrow or cylindrically short section 24 and 44, respectively, of each element 20 and 40, respectively. Known designs contain axial slots that axially extend across the length of the bearing surface thereby increasing the likelihood of bearing insert failure given an associated reduction in the bearing surface area.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2001Publication date: January 30, 2003Inventors: Jay Thomas Duke, Bruce J. Patent number: 5828742Abstract: A method is provided for a telephone subscriber to distinguish between callers. The method is accomplished by storing a pass code for a subscriber's telephone within a memory of the telephone system. Callers who have been informed of the pass code and who call the subscriber's telephone and enter the pass code receive special treatment. For example, upon the caller calling the subscriber's telephone, a normal ringing pattern is applied to the subscriber's telephone while a ring back signal is returned to the caller. Upon the caller entering the pass code, a special ringing pattern is applied to the subscriber's telephone. The special ringing pattern is different than the normal ringing pattern and thus indicates to a subscriber of the subscriber's telephone, even before the telephone is answered, that the caller is one of a select group of callers to whom the subscriber has shared the pass code.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1996Date of Patent: October 27, 1998Assignee: Siemens Business Communication Systems, Inc.Inventors: Zafar M. Patent number: 5659484Abstract: A device independent, frequency driven layout system and method for field programmable gate arrays ("FPGA") which allow for a circuit designer to specify the desired operating frequencies of clock signals in a given design to the automatic layout system to generate, if possible, a physical FPGA layout which will allow the targeted FPGA device to operate at the specified frequencies. Actual net, path and skew requirements are automatically generated and fed to the place and route tools. The system and method of the present invention evaluates the frequency constraints, determines what delay ranges are acceptable for each electrical connection and targets those ranges throughout the layout.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1995Date of Patent: August 19, 1997Assignee: Xilinx, Inc.Inventors: David Wayne Bennett, Eric Ford Dellinger, Walter A. Manaker, Jr., Carl M. Stern, William R. Troxel, Jay Thomas Young

Patent number: 4122397Abstract: A circuit for obtaining clock timing information from an equalized pseudo-ternary signal, such as is exemplified by a signal using the modified duobinary code, includes a level selector in which the signal is sliced at a predetermined amplitude. A slicing level reference circuit provides the threshold voltage for the level selector so that only the upper level portion of the original is obtained for processing. This upper level portion is applied to an amplifier and then to a frequency selection circuit which is tuned to the clock frequency of the original signal.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1977Date of Patent: October 24, 1978Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Laboratories IncorporatedInventor: Jay A. Patent number: 4117352Abstract: A buffer amplifier, which prevents loading of the input signal, accepts at its input an amplified and equalized pseudo-ternary signal. The output of the buffer amplifier is a-c coupled to the input of a precision differential amplifier, from which two output signals are obtained. One said output signal is representative of the positive pulses and the other said output signal is representative of the negative pulses of the pseudo-ternary signal. These two output signals are both applied to the inputs of a peak detector and a slicer. The d-c output of the peak detector is also applied as one input to the slicer. Separate outputs are obtained from the slicer, one each for the positive and negative pulse inputs, and these two outputs are summed, and the summed output is then amplified to provide a clock driver output.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1977Date of Patent: September 26, 1978Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Laboratories IncorporatedInventors: Jay A.
