  • Patent number: 11561313
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable medium to perform operations including: clipping an average velocity grid of a seismic reference surface (SRSAV), in an oil and gas field, to remove average velocity data of a region containing high-angle, horizontal (HA/HZ) boreholes, wherein the seismic reference surface approximates a geological reference surface; based on (i) a depth grid of the geological reference surface (GRSD) generated using HA/HZ borehole data, and (ii) a time grid of the seismic reference surface (SRST), generating borehole average velocity grid (BAV) along the HA/HZ boreholes; gridding the BAV with the clipped SRSAV to generate a hybrid seismic borehole average velocity grid (HSBAV) of the oil and gas field; and based on the HSBAV and the SRST, generating a hybrid seismic geological depth grid (HSGD) of the oil and gas field.

  • Patent number: 11459873
Abstract: Systems and methods of optimizing a new well path using a minimum curvature method are disclosed. An arc of the new well path may include a change in curvature at a point along the length of the arc. The arc of the new well path may be determined by iteratively: selecting a length of a first arc portion of the arc; determining a length of a second arc portion of the arc according to a minimum curvature method; combining the first arc portion and the second arc portion to form an arc; determining a deviation of the arc relative to a planned well trajectory; and selecting the arc with the lowest deviation from the planned well trajectory.

  • Publication number: 20150219779
Abstract: Seismic interpretation includes obtaining a seismic volume of a subterranean formation of a field. Through the seismic volume based on a similarity criterion of seismic values in the set of seismic traces, an estimated horizon is generated based on a selected seed while maintaining tracking data tracking the generating of the estimated horizon. A first selection of a selected point in the estimated horizon is received, and, from the tracking data, an ancestral path from the selected point to the selected seed is extracted. A subset of the set of seismic traces is selected based on the subset comprising points along the ancestral path, and displayed, within a graphic window on a physical display, the subset of the set of seismic traces.

  • Publication number: 20140156194
Abstract: A method for displaying an exploration and production (EP) data set of a field having a subterranean formation involves obtaining well logs corresponding to deviated wells in a portion of the field, where the well logs represent measured properties of the subterranean formation, extracting a section of each well log corresponding to a horizontal leg of a deviated well, extrapolating data items in the section of each well log to generate extrapolated data items forming the EP data set, where extrapolated data items represent the measured properties combined with a corresponding spatial coordinate across the geological surface, and displaying the numerous extrapolated data items of the EP data set.
