Patent number: 12615196Abstract: Techniques for tuning resource capacity for a network device are described. A component resource manager receives an expected utilization of the resource during a utilization volatility period from an auto energizing infrastructure. The utilization volatility period is a period of time during which a chance of a utilization increase of the resource is within a predetermined threshold. The component resource manager receives a calculation of a maximum potential capacity delta for the expected utilization of the resource during the utilization volatility period from the auto energizing infrastructure. Based on the expected utilization and the maximum potential capacity delta, the component resource manager determines the right-size capacity of the resource for the utilization volatility period. The right-size capacity is at least an amount of the resource needed to ensure proper network functioning.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2024Date of Patent: April 28, 2026Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Eric A. Voit, Antonio Garza, Kabira Sethi, Jay Yoo, Cristina Precup

Patent number: 11921562Abstract: Power supply efficiency may be provided. First, a total power supply capacity may be determined comprising a sum of a plurality of supply capacities respectively corresponding to a plurality of power supplies serving a plurality of components. Next, a load value corresponding to the plurality of components may be determined. A number of the plurality of power supplies may then be powered down. The number of power supplies powered down may comprise a value that may cause a remaining number of the plurality of power supplies serving the plurality of components to operate within an efficiency range.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2023Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Torsha Das, Jay Yoo, Tuchih Tsai, Kabiraj Sethi
