  • Publication number: 20240025223
Abstract: An air-handling system for a vehicle includes a housing defining a first flow path through which a first flow of air is configured to selectively flow and a second flow path through which a second flow of air is configured to selectively flow. A heat exchange passageway provides fluid communication between the first flow path and the second flow path within the housing. A heat sink is disposed within the heat exchange passageway and is associated with cooling a linear power module of a blower assembly disposed within the housing. The heat sink is configured to exchange heat with air disposed within the heat exchange passageway to provide cooling of the linear power module regardless of a mode of operation of the blower assembly.

  • Publication number: 20200384828
Abstract: An air-handling system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system of a passenger vehicle is provided that includes a heated air conduit configured to receive a portion of a heated air flow from a heat exchanger in a conditioning section and directly deliver the portion of the heated air flow to a vent in the passenger vehicle. The portion of the heated air flow is separate from an unconditioned air flow, a conditioned air flow, and a remainder of the heated air flow, each of which run from the conditioning section to a common mixing section forming an output air flow. The delivery section distributes the output air flow to a plurality of conduits leading to a plurality of vents in the passenger vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9657956
Abstract: A temperature door for an air handling system of a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system includes a first surface defining a sealing perimeter and a pivoting structure coupled to the first surface and defining an axis. The first surface is configured to pivot about the axis in the housing of the air handling system. A sealing lip is disposed about the sealing perimeter of the first surface and is adapted to engage a corresponding sealing surface of the housing of the air handling system. A pivoting of the first surface about the axis from a sealed position causes a progressive disengagement of the sealing lip from the sealing surface beginning in a location proximate the axis while at least a portion of the sealing lip remains engaged with the sealing surface at a location spaced from the axis.

  • Patent number: 9618007
Abstract: A blower assembly includes a housing having a blower wheel disposed therein and a pre-swirler disposed in a fluid inlet of the housing. The pre-swirler includes an array of spaced apart vanes extending radially outwardly from a central hub. The vanes extend from the hub to an outer ring that is attached to the housing of the blower assembly. The vanes are configured to cooperate with the blower wheel to minimize a noise, a vibration, and a harshness (NVH) of the blower assembly, while maximizing an efficiency thereof.

  • Publication number: 20140010657
Abstract: A blower wheel for use in a blower assembly includes a hub, a concentrically arranged outer ring, an array of spaced apart blades extending between the hub and the outer ring. The hub includes an outer first surface and an inner second surface. An interface between an outer edge of a first end of each of the blades and an outer peripheral edge of the outer first surface of the hub is minimized, increasing an effective blade exit height of the blower wheel. As such, an effective open area for airflow between the blades of the blower wheel is increased over that of the prior art blower wheels. Further, a substantially planar lower face of the hub provides additional structural integrity to the hub, and thereby the blades.

  • Patent number: 6267006
Abstract: An air induction assembly 10 disposed in an intake passage through which air flows to an engine. The air induction assembly 10 has a conduit member 20 which defines an air flow path. A mass air flow sensor (MAFS) 30 is located in the intermediate conduit portion and is in fluid communication with the air flow path. The MAFS 30 being operative to generate an output signal corresponding to air flow rate within the intermediate conduit portion A plurality of flow conditioning elements (FCEs) 22 in the airflow path produce a uniform airflow with low turbulent fluctuations to the MAFS 30 under all vehicle and engine speeds without excessively restricting the air flowing to the engine.
