    Abstract: A method for generating an ultra-wide-band (UWB) having a reduced discrete frequency component defines frame synchronization signal and an inverted frame synchronization signal. As each frame is generated, the method randomly selects the frame synchronization signal or the inverted frame synchronization signal to be included with the frame. The frame synchronization signal is detected by a correlator and the magnitude of the correlation is used to indicate the detection of the frame synchronization signal.
