  • Patent number: 8817638
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for network communications utilizing shared scalable resources are provided. In this regard, networking state information for one or more of a plurality of communication devices may be communicated to a network management device. The network management device may be operable to aggregate the networking state information. The plurality of communication devices may receive aggregated networking state information from the network management device. The plurality of communication devices may route packets based on the received aggregated networking state information. The network management device may be dynamically or manually selected from the plurality of communication devices. The plurality of communication devices may be associated with a sharing domain, and one or more communication devices may be dynamically added to and/or removed from the sharing domain.

  • Publication number: 20130242762
Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that is capable of utilizing bandwidth outside of its allocated bandwidth in order to maximize frequency coverage. The allocated band is separate from a neighboring band by a guard band. The device performs a scan of the neighboring band in order to determine an activity level within the neighboring band. Based on the determined activity level, the device expands its communication frequency range to include the guard band and/or the neighboring band. Once expanded, the device periodically rescans the neighboring band in order to determine whether the device must contract its frequency band out of the expanded area. The device can also receive activity level information of the neighboring band from a server via a common network infrastructure, and can coordinate expansion with other devices.

  • Publication number: 20050245292
Abstract: A hand held radio host includes circuitry for selectively providing power to radiating transceiver elements and non-radiating application elements according to a plurality of power modes of operation to achieve desired effects and in a way that saves power and extends battery life. In one embodiment of the invention, the hand held host operates in one of three modes. In a full power mode, any selected application element, as well as all transceiver elements, are powered on at the same time. Thus, for example, a cell phone module, a wireless personal access network module, a wireless local area network module, and one of a pager/short message service message module may all be powered on at the same time to receive corresponding messages, calls, data sessions, etc.
