  • Publication number: 20250340181
Abstract: Airbag cushions and related assemblies configured to accept side-mounting of airbag inflators and/or otherwise accommodate narrowing of an airbag module width. In some embodiments, the assembly may comprise an inflator housing defining a first chamber and a second chamber. An airbag cushion may be fluidly coupled with the inflator housing. An inflator may be coupled to the housing in a side-mounted configuration such that inflation gases from the inflator are configured to enter the first chamber, diffuse the inflation gas into the second chamber, and direct the inflation gas into the airbag cushion.

  • Publication number: 20250269816
Abstract: Airbag cushions and related assemblies configured to accept side-mounting of airbag inflators and/or otherwise accommodate narrowing of an airbag module width. In some embodiments, the assembly may comprise an inflator housing defining a plenum. An airbag cushion may be fluidly coupled with the plenum and/or inflator housing and may define a throat region. A disk inflator may be coupled to the housing in a side-mounted configuration such that inflation gases from the disk inflator are configured to enter the plenum and then be directed into the airbag cushion via the throat region.

  • Patent number: 12263804
Abstract: Airbag cushion assemblies for aspirating ambient air and related assemblies, methods, and components. Some embodiments can comprise an aspirating airbag cushion assembly comprising an airbag cushion, which may be configured to deploy from a housing or the like. The assembly can further comprise a securement element to secure an inflator of the airbag cushion assembly during inflation of the airbag cushion. The assembly can further comprise an one or more inflation conduits configured to deliver inflation gas into the airbag cushion through a plurality of aspiration ports.

  • Publication number: 20090108574
Abstract: Methods are provided for folding an airbag cushion into a housing. In one implementation of the inventive method, an airbag cushion defined by an upper panel and a lower panel is provided. A first portion of the airbag cushion is tucked into a second portion of the airbag cushion such that the upper and lower panels of the first portion are positioned in between the upper and lower panels of the second portion. The tucked portion is folded in towards the housing. First and second halves of the tucked airbag cushion are folded in towards the housing. Finally, the folded first and second halves of the airbag cushion are folded into the housing.
