  • Patent number: 8963772
Abstract: An approach provides for conversion of global positioning system (GPS) data. A user terminal receives positioning data from a base station, wherein the positioning data is received in a second format, and wherein the second format was derived from ephemeris data broadcast via a global positioning system (GPS) in a first format. The user terminal converts the positioning data from the second format into a third format that is compatible with a protocol of the GPS system, and determines a first fix using the third format of the positioning data.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 24, 2015
    Assignee: Hughes Network Systems, LLC
Inventors: Jun Xu, Yash Vasavada, Mike Parr, Channasandra Ravishankar, Anthony Noerpel, Je-Hong Jong
  • Patent number: 8705357
Abstract: A method for controlling data traffic with random early detection and window size adjustments including performing random early detection on incoming data packets, calculating a simple moving average of packet dropping probabilities for the data packets as calculated when performing random early detection, decreasing an advertised window size if the simple moving average is greater than a probability target plus a tolerance factor, increasing the advertised window size if the simple moving average is less than the probability target minus a tolerance factor, and not adjusting the window size if the simple moving average is not greater than a probability target plus a tolerance factor and not less than a probability target minus a tolerance factor.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 22, 2014
    Assignee: Hughes Network Systems, LLC
Inventors: Robert Torres, John Border, Patrick Stevens, Jun Xu, Je-Hong Jong
  • Patent number: 8576767
Abstract: An approach provides a satellite air interface to efficiently support communication with a terrestrial network. One or more packets associated with a data communication session are received from a terrestrial network configured to provide cellular communications. A frame representing the packet for transmission is generated over a satellite link to a user terminal. Signaling information for the transmission of the packet over the terrestrial network is modified or eliminated for transmission over the satellite link.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 26, 2008
Date of Patent: November 5, 2013
    Assignee: Hughes Network Systems, LLC
Inventors: Chanasandra Ravishankar, Adrian Morris, Anthony Noerpel, Charles Barnett, Je-Hong Jong
