  • Patent number: 8002031
Abstract: The invention concerns an independent measuring and processing probe designed to be lowered in a tube for temporarily installation at the bottom of a hydrocarbon well. It includes removable anchoring resources (3, 4) capable of anchoring the probe to a casing at the bottom of the well, a set of sensors, at least one of which is a seismic sensor, recording resources, resources for processing the measurements provided by the sensors, and a central body (1) integrally reamed throughout the whole of its length by an opening (2) so as to allow free passage through the probe when it is in the anchored position. Such a probe can be used in particular to effect a reliable preliminary study on the well before installing a more complete observation system.

  • Patent number: 5303773
Abstract: A casing is lowered in a well for production of an underground petroleum deposit. The casing includes a number of tubular sections connected successively to each other by special tubular connectors, at least certain of these being modified, and the casing being cemented in position when installed in the well. These special connectors include housings for one or several sensors and other housings, if necessary, for the electronic acquisition or transmission circuits. The different connectors for the device are interconnected by cables and to an installation on the surface by a multi-line cable for the electrical supply to the electronic modules and transmission of the data acquired. This arrangement permits prewiring of the different connectors, thus simplifying the positioning of the device during operations for equipping the wells.

  • Patent number: 5241869
Abstract: A device for taking samples of a gaseous fluid from a well at a given depth. The device includes a control portion having a probe which may be removably assembled to one end of a bottle portion. The probe includes an inner space communicating at one end with the outside through a passage-way for the inflow of the fluid within this space into the sampler and at another end through an inner channel with the sample receiving chamber in the bottle. A channel closure valve is mounted in the probe and provided with an actuator remote-controlled from the surface. A remote-controlled motor with a rotary output shaft extends in parallel relation to the axis of the device. A device for transforming the rotary motion of the motor shaft into an axial motion of a rod displaceable in the direction of the axis of the device is provided. A sample-taking valve, comprising a movable element for opening and closing the valve, is mounted in axially displaceable relationship on this rod.

  • Patent number: 5243562
Abstract: A method of installing a reception device in a cased well at an optimum depth for surveying a formation under production or a localized part thereof and a source of acoustic waves at the surface or in a well. A placing or setting of the device is achieved by associating a plurality of acoustic wave reception units with a tubing lowered into the well and by applying the respective units against the pipe casing of the well by arms and springs or by including the reception units in sondes which are mechanically uncoupled from the tubing during the stages of use, with the reception device being easily moved by displacing the tubing during, for example, interruptions in the production of effluents.

  • Patent number: 5181565
Abstract: A well probe including two offset shoes fixed outside of a tubular column and an intermediate shoe provided with a central passage having a cross section larger than a cross section of the column. The intermediate shoe is connected to a lower offset shoe by a mobile hasp. A mobile harness is adapted to be moved into and out of a lateral cavity of the intermediate shoe for enabling coupling and uncoupling of the intermediate shoe with a wall of the well. The mobile harness includes a casing for accommodating sensors and a hydraulic triggering arrangement, with the sensors and the hydraulic triggering arrangement being connected to a surface installation by cables and an electronic cartridge.

  • Patent number: 4986350
Abstract: For seismic monitoring of a petroleum deposit at least one signal receiving unit is fixed to an outside of a casing pipe before the casing plate is cemented in a borehole passing through the monitored zone.At least one housing, defined by projecting elements, (longitudinal members, stops), is provided along an outer surface of the casing pipe, with the where the reception unit being embedded and fixed therein so as to protect the reception unit from shocks or compressive forces which may occur during lowering of the pipe into the well. Each reception unit comprises a support assembly with cavities for sensors, electronic cards for amplifying the signals delivered by the sensors and a sealed external case which is easy to position and which is held firmly in position by embedment in the housing. A multiconductor cable is used, for example, for connecting the reception unit to the surface.

  • Patent number: 4757709
Abstract: The flowmeter comprises a central mandrel suspended from a cable and centered in the fluid stream so as to leave an annular passage. Fluid stream contracting means are provided for forming a venturi in the annular passage, and a differential pressure gauge is provided in the central mandrel to produce a signal representative of the pressure head loss across the venturi, which signal is processed to derive the flow rate.
