  • Patent number: 5979367
Abstract: A dense fluidized bed exchanger includes a casing the vertical longitudinal walls of which consist of tubes conveying a heat-conducting fluid, the casing being divided lengthwise into chambers separated from each other by a baffle consisting of a wall consisting of tubes conveying a heat-conducting fluid. The vertical longitudinal walls consist of horizontal tubes and the baffle extends from the bottom wall of the casing to a height less than that of the latter and consists of superposed hairpin-shape transverse extensions of tubes of each of the vertical longitudinal walls disposed perpendicular to the tubes and extending to the opposite vertical longitudinal wall.

  • Patent number: 5855241
Abstract: The heat exchanger comprises at least one first sheet tubes and at least one second sheet of tubes, the sheets being suspended in a case. The two sheets are juxtaposed in a vertical plane, the first sheet of tubes connecting a first inlet fluid manifold disposed at the bottom and on one side of a case to an outlet manifold disposed in a central top portion of the case, and the second sheet of tubes connecting a second inlet fluid manifold disposed at the bottom and on one side of the case to the outlet manifold. Each sheet comprises first tubes which extend horizontally in the bottom portion of the case, second tubes which are connected to the first tubes and which extend vertically between the bottom portion of the case and the middle portion of the case, and bent third tubes which are connected to the second tubes and which extend between the middle portion of the case and the top portion of the case. This configuration makes it possible to obtain a large heat exchange area with a compact heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 5707591
Abstract: A circulating fluidized bed reactor comprising a top zone surrounded by walls provided with heat exchange tubes, the heat exchange tubes being interconnected by fins, and a bottom zone provided with a fluidization grid, a primary air injection device beneath the grid, a secondary air injection device above the grid, and a fuel injection device, the walls surrounding the bottom zone being provided with heat exchange tubes. The walls of the zones are provided with vertical heat exchange panels referred to as "extensions" that extend perpendicularly to the walls of the zones, that are made up of tubes inside the reactor, that are of horizontal width lying in the range 150 mm to 500 mm, and that are spaced apart from one another via a distance lying in the range 1.5 times to 4 times their width, the width being defined as the distance between the inside faces of the fins of the walls and the most distant generator lines of the most distant tubes of the extensions.

  • Patent number: 5168819
Abstract: Apparatus for cooling the wall of a fluidized bed hearth in a middle join region of generally upsidedown V-shaped vertical right cross-section between the upsidedown truncated pyramid-shaped bottom portions of the furnace above two parallel floors and a top portion of rectangular right cross-section, having a front face and a rear face parallel to the ridge of the upsidedown V-shape and having side faces perpendicular to said ridge, said wall being provided with heat exchanger tubes conveying water or an emulsion of water and steam, wherein the heat exchanger tubes are essentially horizontal and disposed in the flanks of the upsidedown truncated pyramid-shaped lower portions in line with the upsidedown V-shape and open out into tubes lining the side faces perpendicular to the ridge thereof. This makes it possible to perform cooling by natural circulation.

  • Patent number: 5160516
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for supporting and guiding the skirt of a cyclone, and comprising at least three "shoe" components which pass through the cyclone body and the ends of which support the top portion of the skirt. By means of this disposition, the arrangement enables the skirt to be held at its periphery, thereby limiting deformation of the skirt. Preferably, the inner ends of the shoes support the top portion of the skirt via a horizontal annular flange provided on the skirt.

  • Patent number: 5123939
Abstract: A cyclone for separating a mixture of gas and solid particles by centrifuging into a fraction that is enriched in particles and a gaseous fraction that is depleted in particles, the cyclone comprising a cylindrical vessel into which a duct for injecting the mixture of gas and solid particles opens out tangentially, an axial duct for removing the gaseous fraction, means for removing the fraction that is enriched in particles, which means are situated in the bottom portion of the cylindrical vessel, gas injection means serving to fluidize the solid particle enriched fraction as a dense bed, and heat exchanger means for exchanging heat between the dense fluidized bed that is formed and a fluid to be vaporized and/or reheated, together with means for adjusting the level of the dense bed.

  • Patent number: 4861821
Abstract: Copolymers produced from 0.5-20% by weight mono-, bis- or trismethylolphenyl allyl ether (I) of formula: ##STR1## n being from 1 to 3, and from 80-99.5 % by weight ethylenic monomers, at least one being a (meth)acrylic monomer are useful in the preparation of coatings, particularly in the field of paints, varnishes, inks and adhesives. Radical polymerization is employed with different stages of polymerization.

  • Patent number: 4774280
Abstract: New resins based on oxidized polyethylene, which are thermoplastic or thermosetting, soluble in solvents and/or aqueous media, are characterized in that they consist essentially of grafted polyethylene obtained by preparing a dispersion of a molten oxidized polyethylene in an organic solvent medium at a temperature above the softening range of the oxidized polyethylene. The oxidized polyethylene is employed in a proportion of 0.5 to 30% by weight of the resin and has a weight average molecular weight of between 900 and 25,000 and also contains side groups ending in functional groups capable of giving rise to free radicals. The dispersion is polymerized with a mixture of catalyzed monomers consisting essentially of acrylic and/or methacrylic monomers, in a proportion of 70 to 99.5% by weight based on the resin, the mixture being added gradually during the reaction. The resins according to the invention can be employed as a binder for coatings in paints, varnishes, glues, inks, adhesives and sealants.
