  • Patent number: 6107082
Abstract: A process for bacteria identification and for determining the sensitivity of bacteria to antibiotics, and a apparatus and measuring supports for carrying out this process. There is manually introduced, by means of a sampling and transfer tool, a given volume of bacterial colony into a primary receiver. This is automatically dispersed within a liquid to form a precalibrated inoculum in the primary receiver. There is automatically carried out total or partial transfer of this precalibrated inoculum between the primary receiver and one or more measuring supports, these transfers being carried out without the precalibrated inoculum being placed in contact with an element other than a sampling and transfer tool and/or the primary receiver and its final measuring support or supports and in such a way that the transferred quantities of bacteria correspond to the quantities required for the analyses to be carried out.

  • Patent number: 4622642
Abstract: A process for batch interferential granulometry applicable particularly to poly-dispersed biological particles. The process is characterized in that the positioning of the angular measurement regions is selected according to the criteria of representativity of the signals obtained with respect to the given granulometry sought, particularly for their alternative components, and in that the processing of the signals comprises successively a harmonic Fourier analysis of their alternative components, and the use of the results of this analysis in a computation leading to the parameters sought, namely, the numbers, mean dimensions, and granulometric distribution of the analyzed particles.

  • Patent number: 4484696
Abstract: Apparatus for automatic buretting comprises an automatic buretting actuator (1) and a burette unit (2) in the form of two separable subassemblies. The burette unit (2) is removably mounted in the actuator (1) even when filled, while remaining closed in a sealed fashion and is constituted by a burette (3) connected at its lower end to a valve (4) with three passages and three positions, provided with an actuator (5). The automatic buretting actuator (1) is constituted by a stepping motor (9) provided with a connection (10) for operating the valve (4) of the burette unit (2). An electronic control assembly (13) has a control and display panel (14). A lever (15) provides quick release of the burette unit (2).

  • Patent number: 4373374
Abstract: An arrangement for automatically measuring the carbonic gas contained in a beverage comprising a measuring chamber communicating with a bypass connected to a main conduit through which the beverage flows, elements in the bypass for alternatingly causing liquid passing through the bypass to flow through the measuring chamber and for preventing communication between the measuring chamber and the bypass so that the liquid will flow directly through the bypass while a sample of the liquid to be analyzed will be enclosed in the chamber, and flexible bellows extending into the measuring chamber for changing the volume of the latter when communication between the measuring chamber and the bypass is interrupted so that a gas pillow will form above the liquid in the measuring chamber the pressure and temperature of which is to be measured to indicate the gas content in the beverage.
