Abstract: A teletranslation system and method for enhancing document translatability. The teletranslation system translates a document from one natural language to another. The system comprises an aggregate filter having a plurality of sections, each section performing a specific process or processes on the document in a predetermined order, each section having at least one atomic filter, and at least one MT engine for translating the processed document. The aggregate filter comprises a format conversion section, a text improvement section, a word tagging section, and a translation section. The aggregate filter analyzes the document based on a source text, format information, and a target language. The method for enhancing document translatability comprises processing the document by an aggregate filter having a plurality of sections, each of the sections processing the document in a predetermined order, each section having at least one atomic filter, and translating the processed document by a MT engine.

Abstract: A network-based teletranslation system and method for translating documents from one natural language to another natural language. The teletranslation system and method are capable of handling a wide variety of formats, including HTML documents from the Internet, intranets or extranets, e-mails, or electronic documents from a word processor or other applications. The teletranslation system and method are compatible with various MT engines and human translation services, and use the computing power of a network in a scalable and flexible way. The teletranslation system and method improve bandwidth and speed by distributing the workload among several computers in the network.

Abstract: The video memory of a CRT display system is split into an application video memory and a CRT memory. The two memories are interconnected by logic means for manipulating primary and secondary texts whose characters proceed in directions which are different from each other. The character codes are applied to the application video memory. The logic manipulates the code in accordance with the rules of the primary and secondary languages and provides data to the CRT video memory for driving a CRT controller.
