  • Publication number: 20120291747
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has a fuel supply system which has a fuel pump driving mechanism that limits the relative motion between a part of the mechanism contacting a plunger of the pump and the plunger.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 28, 2011
    Publication date: November 22, 2012
Applicant: BRP-POWERTRAIN GMBH & CO. KG
Inventors: Ralph Jurjevec, Roland Ennsmann, Gunther Zauner, Jean-Charles Pouillard
  • Patent number: 7845316
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has a crankcase, a crankshaft, a cylinder block, at least one piston, a cylinder head assembly, and a cooling system for cooling at least a portion of the engine. The cooling system has a first cooling jacket for cooling a first side of the cylinder block, a second cooling jacket for cooling a second side of the cylinder block, and a cylinder head cooling jacket for cooling the cylinder head assembly. A coolant inlet and a coolant outlet fluidly communicate with the first and second cooling jackets respectively. Coolant flowing in the cooling system flows from the coolant inlet to the first cooling jacket, then to the cylinder head cooling jacket, then to the second cooling jacket, and finally to the coolant outlet. A cylinder block, an engine cooling system, and a method of cooling an engine are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 2007
Date of Patent: December 7, 2010
Assignee: BRP-Powertrain GmbH & Co KG
Inventors: Markus Hochmayr, Jean-Charles Pouillard, Stefan Leiber, Anton Pichler, Rudolf Kusel, Johann Neuboeck

  • Patent number: 7077113
Abstract: A combined flame arrester and intercooler for cooling intake gas for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The intercooler comprises an elongated body having a longitudinal axis. The elongated body has a central passageway that extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. An inlet opening is located on one end of the elongated body such that the intake gas enters the central passageway though the inlet opening. The intercooler further includes a plurality of cooling tubes forming at least a portion of the elongated body. The plurality of tubes substantially surround the central passageway. Each of the cooling tubes is spaced from an adjacent cooling tube such that an air flow path is formed there between. The intake gas is cooled by flowing past the cooling tubes. Preferably, the intake gas flows along the central passageway in the elongated body and radially outward therefrom through the air flow path between the cooling tubes.
