  • Patent number: 5433839
Abstract: This sheet metal comprises a substrate (12) made of stainless steel containing more than 16% of chromium in its weight composition, coated with a metal layer (16) containing chiefly tin. Between the metal layer (16) and the substrate (12) the sheet metal comprises a layer (14) of an intermetallic compound containing at least iron, chromium and tin. To manufacture this sheet metal, a layer (16) of metallic coating containing chiefly tin is deposited by an electrolytic route on a sheet (12) made of stainless steel. The coated sheet metal is heated to a temperature above the melting temperature of the coating layer (16) to permit the formation of the intermetallic compound. The heating is maintained for a sufficient period for the surface of the coating layer (16) to have a matt appearance.

  • Patent number: 5417772
Abstract: Method for producing a magnetic steel strip having a thickness of less than 5 mm and containing, in composition by weight, more than 2% silicon, less than 0.1% carbon and a suitable amount of secondary recrystallization inhibiting elements, the balance being iron, obtained by a direct casting on one roll or between two rolls, characterized in that it comprises creating a crystallization structure comprising oriented grains {110} <001> in the skin, i.e. on the surface of a quench zone, by the sudden cooling of the steel in contact with the roll or rolls whose surface temperature is lower than 400.degree. • Patent number: 5230752
Abstract: A process and combination for ferritic stainless steel resisting corrosion in neutral or weakly acid chloride-containing media, being ductile and impact resistant, the compositions consisting essentially of 28.5 to 35% chromium, 3.5 to 5.5% molybdenum, 0.5 to 2% copper, less than 0.5% nickel, less than 0.4% manganese, less than 0.4% silicon, less than 0.030% carbon, less than 0.030% nitrogen, and of titanium and/or niobium between 0.10 to 0.60% where % Ti>0.2+4(% C)+3.4(% N) and/or % Nb>0.1+7.7(% C)+6.6(% N) is satisfied. The process if for production of steel strips of the above composition where the hot-rolled steel strip is tempered at 900 to 1200.degree. C., then subjected to a first cold rolling followed by an intermediate and final tempering at 900 to 1200.degree. C. after intermediate and final cold rollings.
