  • Patent number: 4668313
Abstract: The invention relates to a polymer with ethylenic unsaturations incorporating silylmetallocene groups, a process for the manufacture of these polymers and a propellant composition having the polymer of the invention as a binder. The polymer of the invention incorporates ethylenic unsaturations, to at least some of which there are added silylmetallocene groups of formula ##STR1## in which M denotes a transition metal such as, for example, iron, the radicals R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 being hydrocarbon radicals. The polymer may be a hydroxytelechelic or carboxytelechelic polybutadiene. This modified polymer is employed as a binder in composite propellant compositions, thus making it possible to solve the problem related to the migration of the combustion catalyst. The invention has application particularly in the field of solid propulsion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 27, 1986
Date of Patent: May 26, 1987
Assignee: Societe Nationale des Poudres et Explosifs
Inventors: Jean-Claude C. Gautier, Michel H. Fontanille, Serge F. Raynal
  • Patent number: 4661608
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of silylmetallocene compounds and the compounds obtained by this process. The process of the invention consists in reacting, in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst, a metallocene of general formula (I): ##STR1## M denoting a transition metal such as iron with a halosilane of general formula (II): ##STR2## in which X denotes a halogen and then reducing the resultant product to form a silylmetallocene compound containing at least one Si-H bond. The invention has application in the field of chemical industry.

  • Patent number: 4365094
Abstract: The invention relates to the synthesis of tertiary phosphine oxides and also to certain tertiary phosphine oxides.According to the invention, an organic phase containing a halogenomethyl derivative, a secondary phosphine oxide and a phase transfer catalyst in an organic medium is reacted with an aqueous phase containing an inorganic base. The halogenomethyl derivative can be a micromolecule or a macromolecule. The tertiary phosphine oxides are substances which are useful, in particular, in fireproofing, in hydrometallurgy and in the field of plant health.

  • Patent number: 4163740
Abstract: Solutions of polystyrylpyridine are prepared by a novel process which consists of carrying out the polycondensation of at least one aromatic dialdehyde, preferably terephthalic dialdehyde, and at least one pyridinic derivative substituted by at least two reactive methyl groups at a temperature between 150.degree. C. and 200.degree. C. The polycondensation reaction is stopped after the extent of condensation is equal to at least 40%, the polycondensate is then dissolved in a solvent which is methylethylketone, ethyl acetate, methylene chloride, trichloroethylene, chlorobenzene, n-propanol and preferably a mixture of methylethylketone and n-propanol.The polystyrylpyridine solutions obtained according to the process of this invention are useful for the preparation of composite materials which exhibit very good mechanical properties, excellent behavior under conditions of high temperature, flame and chemical and atmospheric agents.
