  • Publication number: 20100061899
Abstract: A filtration device comprises a plurality of filtering units including a filtering medium. The filtering units are separated from each other by a ceramic mat or cloth coated with a ceramic glue, in order to secure the units to each other while keeping them mechanically and thermally independent. The units are then inserted into a structure, particularly a metallic or ceramic structure, and are secured thereto by a holder, also made of a ceramic mat or cloth coated with a ceramic glue.

  • Publication number: 20090288399
Abstract: A burner for heating a filter cartridge for the exhaust gases of an engine until the oxidation and/or combustion of the solid particulates trapped in the cartridge, including a burner body having a closed end and, on the side opposite this closed end, an opening for removing the said gases. The burner further including at least one intake duct for a mixture of fuel and oxidiser terminating in the burner body tangentially to the burner body, so as to cause the mixture to swirl in the burner; an electrical ignition means for igniting the said mixture positioned inside the burner body; and a closure element obstructing the burner body, to limit the turbulence of the exhaust gases in the volume of the burner body bounded by the said closure element.

  • Patent number: 7481045
Abstract: A post-injection method for the regeneration of a device used to filter diesel engine exhaust gases. The method includes injecting a fully-pulverized hydrocarbon-, alcohol- and/or reducing-agent-type regeneration solution upstream of the oxidation catalyst (14) to increase the exhaust gases' temperature upon detection of clogging of the filter with particles. A computer uses temperature (2) and pressure (3) sensors disposed upstream of the filtration device to control injection of the regeneration solution from an electromagnetic injector (9). The regeneration solution is directed through a capillary (12) into the exhaust pipe (1) at a point located at a good distance from the injector, upstream of the catalyst (5), in order to be finely pulverized by the air.

  • Patent number: 7314501
Abstract: A method in which all or some of the particles contained in the exhaust gases of a diesel engine are retained on particle filters and burnt due to the action of a combustion catalyst. At least a part of the particle filters are obstructed when the temperature ?g of the exhaust gases for filtration is equal to or less than a threshold temperature ?s, so as to limit or avoid cooling of the obstructed part of the particle filters and to maintain the same at a temperature ?o greater than or equal to ?s up until the time when ?g becomes greater than ?s again and thus permit accelerated regeneration of the obstructed part of the particle filters. Also disclosed is an exhaust gas filtration device which permits the carrying out of the filtration method with continuous and regular regeneration of the particle filters.

  • Patent number: 4977869
Abstract: Valve assembly (22) intended for closing a combustion chamber (14) of an internal-combustion engine and comprising a valve (36) and a valve seat (42), the valve lifting off from its seat in order to open the combustion chamber (14) by moving away from the latter.According to the invention, the valve seat (42) is designed to move relative to the combustion chamber (14) under the effect of the pressure prevailing in this chamber and thereby to reinforce the closing of the valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 4850327
Abstract: A device for improving the feed of diesel engines at low temperatures, particularly at temperatures less than the cloud point of gas oils, without modifying the specific chemical characteristics of the gas oil by recycling the scavenging flow from the injection pump, characterized in that recycling takes place either upstream of the fuel filter and is associated with recirculation towards the reservoir of the gas oil coming from the reservoir through a heat exchanger or directly in the direction of the reservoir with direct feed of the filter by the reservoir.
