  • Patent number: 6877527
Abstract: An arrangement for connecting and disconnecting two pipe sections in a fluid transfer system. Each section includes a butterfly valve with a disk pivotally mounted inside, rotating about a swivel axis between a closed position closing the cross-section of the fluid flow and an open position opening the cross-section of the fluid flow. The swivel axes extend perpendicular to the pipe axis and parallel to each other. The swivel axes of the disks are eccentric relative to the axes of the sections to reduce the space between the disks in their closed position, when the sections are connected. The invention is useful for transferring liquefied natural gas.

  • Patent number: 6073650
Abstract: Valve with an actuator which consumes power from an energy source and which comprises a device capable of detecting that the actuator is operating the valve, a first sensor for measuring a value representative of the power consumption from the energy source and an electronic circuit connected to the first sensor and to the device so as to compare the value representing the power consumption from the energy source with a reference value, during operation of the valve by the actuator, and provide information on the basis of this comparison.

  • Patent number: 6022000
Abstract: A valve device comprising a body (1), a closure member (2) operated by a shaft (3) guided through a neck (4) in the body (1), and a liner (5) provided with a flange (6) extending along part of the length of the neck (4). The sealing contact between the shaft and the bore may be improved by means of a clamping assembly (7, 8, 9) positioned around the flange (6) in a space (10) in the body (1). The size of the clamping assembly (7, 8, 9) is such that it exerts a force on the flange (6) and thereby on the shaft (3). The clamping assembly (7, 8, 9) is radially and/or tiltably movable in said space (10) relative to the body (1). Said device is particularly suitable for butterfly valves for use with corrosive and/or delicate liquids such as liquid chemicals and liquid foodstuffs.

  • Patent number: 5639100
Abstract: A gasket, which functions as a static radial seal, includes a first sealing ring disposed at a first predetermined distance from a longitudinal axis. A second sealing ring is disposed at a second predetermined distance from the longitudinal axis. The second distance is less than the first distance. The first and second sealing rings are made of metal. A common metal C-shaped casing envelopes the first and second sealing rings. The first and second sealing rings move between a relaxed position prior to installation and an engaged position after installation. The first and second sealing rings are positioned in the casing in the relaxed position and define a line that extends between the centers of the first and second sealing rings. This line is disposed at an oblique offset angle with respect to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 5178364
Abstract: A sealing liner is provided with incorporated reaction ring, including two circular substantially concentric sealing elements, namely: a static sealing element and a dynamic sealing element these two elements being connected together by a sealed membrane. The dynamic sealing element has an annular housing containing a resilient deformable bed against which a reaction ring is held applied.

  • Patent number: 4995305
Abstract: An actuator having a tubular body with a cylindrical bore therein within which a piston reciprocates, an output shaft extending into said bore and a linkage for converting the linear movement of the piston into the rotary motion of said shaft. The linkage is contained entirely within said bore. In one form the piston is spring loaded and a spring follower also provides a piston for compressing the spring to permit the force exerted on the piston to be transmitted to the output shaft substantially in its entirety.

  • Patent number: 4653724
Abstract: The invention concerns a butterfly valve of a type wherein the elastomer sleeve lines the body bore, and has cheeks which fit into circular recesses provided in the two parallel radial faces of the valve, the shape of the cheeks and of the circular recesses being such that when the valve is assembled between flanges, the elastomer of the cheeks is pressed into a spare volume in the circular recesses and precludes any creep of the elastomer towards the core of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4593916
Abstract: A sealing device for providing the upstream/downstream sealing of a valve comprising a valving member movable inside the bore of a tubular body and comprising at its periphery a sealing surface coming to bear on a sealing packing mounted in the body at the end of the valving stroke. This sealing packing comprises a dynamic annular sealing element and a coronal metal membrane, whose outer edge portion has flat radial part applied axially against a steep side of a shoulder in the bore of the body, for providing static sealing therewith.
