  • Publication number: 20030071738
Abstract: A seat occupancy sensor for detecting the presence of a body or object, e.g. on a motor vehicle front seat, includes a soft and yielding substrate, on the top surface of which is provided a wiring pattern. The wiring pattern is comprised of a plurality of pairs of electrical wires. Each pair of electrical wires defines a capacitive element. Each capacitive element is connected to a detector circuitry via a connecting wiring.

  • Patent number: 5997363
Abstract: A single piece electrical receptacle terminal is provided with a box-shaped contact section having resilient outwardly biased locking lances. The side walls and locking lances are provided with guide members at the lance free end in order to assist insertion and extraction through a family seal without damage to the seal or the contact.

  • Patent number: 5975959
Abstract: A smart card connector module comprises two rows of terminals stamped and formed from a single piece of sheet metal and interconnected by a carrier strip. An insulative housing may either be overmoulded or assembled to the carrier strip, the terminals subsequently being electrically disconnected by stamping away portions of the carrier strip through windows provided in the housing.

  • Patent number: 5833487
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises a housing and IDC terminals having IDC contact sections. The IDC contact section comprises a large wire receiving slot extending into a narrower IDC slot for connection to conducting strands of a insulated conducting wire. The wires are inserted longitudinally into wire receiving cavities extending from a rear face of the connector, whereby the cavities are bent such that they traverse obliquely the terminals, thereby causing the wire to pass through the wire receiving slot of the terminal, aligned with the cavity. The wire is inserted until it abuts a stop and, the terminal can then be further inserted into the housing such that the wire is stuffed into the IDC slot for connection therewith. This design advantageously benefits from IDC technology whilst also providing a very compact wire-to-wire spacing. Additionally, the housing and terminals are relatively simple and cost-effective to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5791923
Abstract: A tab terminal comprises a box-shaped body section having short circuit cantilever beam spring members projecting outwardly from side walls thereof. The terminals are for mounting in a connector assembly matable to a complementary connector assembly for applications such as automotive airbags where a short circuiting function is required between adjacent terminals of a connector assembly. Spring members of adjacent terminals thus abut and electrically contact each other when mounted in a connector assembly that is disconnected. The complementary connector assembly has a wall portion that is insertable between the contacting spring members for separation thereof when the assemblies are mated.

  • Patent number: 5695368
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly comprises terminals having an inner body and an outer body. The inner body is provided with cantilever beam locking lances that are positioned in slots of the outer body. The outer body thus protects the locking lance from catching onto foreign objects. This is particularly advantageous for insertion and retraction through a sealing member. The slot may also provide polarization of the terminal in a connector housing cavity.

  • Patent number: 4244894
Abstract: Process and apparatus for electrostatically pinning a dielectric film to a moving surface which is electrically conducting and connected to a grounded fixed potential comprising a corona wire fed with a direct current and a semi-cylindrical metal counter-electrode connected to a potential which is approximately equal to the potential of the moving surface. When extruding a molten mass of polymer onto a cooling surface, a substantial increase in the speed of application is observed. The best results are obtained when the radius of the counter-electrode is approximately equal to the distance between the corona wire and the moving surface.
