  • Patent number: 5283042
Abstract: Impure white phosphorus values are purified to such extent as to be useful, e.g., for the preparation of P.sub.4 S.sub.10 therefrom, by (a) reacting liquid, impure white phosphorus with an aqueous suspension of a purifying amount of active charcoal to provide a mixture of purification, (b) separating such mixture of purification into a phosphorus-containing phase and an aqueous phase, (c) separating this phosphorus-containing phase, e.g., by means of a silica filter, into purified liquid white phosphorus and spent active charcoal, and (d) recovering the white phosphorus thus purified.

  • Patent number: 4896866
Abstract: The double-acting shock absorber producing the throttling of a fluid flowing through a constricted passage for damping out a movement in constructed, in combination of, a fixed piston (2) and a fixed cylinder (3) cooperating both with a movable member (4). This movable member has two axially aligned portions, that is, an upper portion (5) and a lower portion (6), the upper portion having a cylindrical cavity in which the fixed piston (2) is slidably fitted, and the lower portion having the configuration of a piston slidably engaged in the fixed cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4872716
Abstract: This casement lock (1), notably for casement doors, French windows or the like, comprises essentially a casing (2) enclosing a mechanism for actuating a half-turn bolt, and one or a plurality of operating rods (5, 6) urged to their locking position by resilient means (9). This casement lock is further provided with damping means (14) for slowing down the operating rods (5, 6) during their return movement to the locking position under the action of the resilient means (9).

  • Patent number: 4587784
Abstract: The flame-resisting glazing panel comprises at least one flame-resisting glazing 1 and at least one mechanically strong glazing 2 which is spaced from the flame-resisting glazing by a layer of gas 3. The mechanically strong glazing 2 has an aperture 8 through which extends a plug 9-11; 14-16; 18-22; 26-31 which is arranged hermetically and seals the aperture. The plug is made from a material which is fusible at a relatively low temperature of 70.degree. to 150.degree. C.
