  • Patent number: 7739766
Abstract: A stay comprises an inclined casing and a bundle of substantially parallel taut reinforcements lodged in the casing and individually anchored in a first and a second anchoring region. According to the invention, the casing and some of the reinforcements are installed by applying substantially uniform tension values to the reinforcements, then several iterations of the following steps are formed: compacting the installed reinforcements, at least at one end of the casing; slipping a further group of reinforcements along inside the casing, in a space left available by the compacted reinforcements; and tensioning each reinforcement of the further group between the first and second anchoring regions so that all the installed reinforcements exhibit substantially uniform tension values.

  • Patent number: 7716800
Abstract: The invention concerns a single-piece part for producing a cable anchoring jaw. The single-piece part includes several angular portions arranged about a generally cylindrical duct, assembled by clamps adjacent to the duct. Each clamp is located at the bottom of one particular radial slot extending between two portions from the part periphery. Each clamp has towards its own particular slot a surface whereof a part at least is inclined relative to the direction perpendicular to the slot radial plane, such that the clamp radial thickness has a minimum in a specific position along the direction, thereby ensuring the position where the clamp will be broken to obtain the jaw wedges from the part portions, which enables to better control for clamping the cable strand in the jaw.

  • Patent number: 6692829
Abstract: The strand comprises a group of twisted metal wires, a plastic sheath and a pliant filling compound which fills internal interstices between the twisted wires of the group and a peripheral interstice lying between the periphery of the group and the inner face of the sheath. This peripheral interstice has, in a cross section of the strand, an area of between P×emin and 0.6×S2, where P is the external perimeter of the group of wires, emin=0.05 mm and S2 is the cumulative area of the gaps lying between the periphery of the group and the smallest circle within which the group is inscribed.

  • Patent number: 6658684
Abstract: A reinforcement for a building works structure comprising an assembly of solid wires. The wires are mutually parallel to form a bundle and the reinforcement comprises a sheath made of plastic material enclosing the bundle and providing it with cohesion.

  • Patent number: 6578329
Abstract: An anchoring device for fixing a structural cable to a building element, the cable comprising a plurality of strands each comprising wires which are themselves enclosed together in a protective sheath, each of the protective sheaths being interrupted at a terminal edge such that the strands have each an exposed end section. The exposed section is inserted in a sealed chamber with a packing box whereof on plate is fixed and the other plate is compressed by threaded rods.

  • Patent number: 5083469
Abstract: For placing a multiple strand cable under tension by successive tightening of the different strands by means of an individual jack, procedure is as follows: the first strand of the cable is tightened, called below "control strand" while keeping possible then measurement of the tension of this strand at any moment, then pulling a second strand until its tension is equal to that of the control strand, measured at the same moment, and then anchoring this second strand so stretched, a third strand is then tightened until its tension is equal to that of the control strand measured at the corresponding moment and then this third strand so tightened is anchored, and so on until the anchoring of the last strand, after which the tension then applied to the control strand is noted and, after having relaxed the latter and having freed from it the measuring means, this control strand is anchored while applying to it the tension thus noted.

  • Patent number: 3961995
Abstract: An aluminum-titanium-boron mother alloy having a boron content of 0.2 to 0.8% by weight and a titanium content such that Ti - 2.2 B .gtoreq. 3.9%, in which the matrix has a preponderant proportion of grains of less than 30 microns in size, and contains fine TiB.sub.2 crystals having an average size of about 1 micron primarily dispersed along the grain boundaries, and the method for the preparation of same by the formation of titanium diboride by the action of liquid aluminum on titanium oxide and boron oxide in solution in molten cryolite, mixing the reactants in a manner to utilize the starting materials, and then quenching the formed alloy rapidly to cool and solidify the mother alloy, preferably by pouring the liquid alloy in water to produce the alloy in the form of granules or fine powder.
