    Abstract: A bone harvesting drill bit has a longitudinal axis and includes a proximal end portion adapted to be mounted for rotation in a chuck of a surgical handpiece. The drill bit has a distal end portion having a boring tip for boring into a bone harvesting site and an intermediate or lateral cutting zone located between the distal and proximal end portions and at least one substantially longitudinal cutting edge making an angle of less than 20° relative to the longitudinal axis, and at least one bone collecting zone adjoining the at least one longitudinal cutting edge and having a radial depth greater than the radius of the intermediate or lateral cutting zone.
