  • Publication number: 20060239007
Abstract: The luminaire has a reflector (10) having a light emission window (15), near to first opposed edges (16) of which respective sets of strips (25) are present to create a cut-off angle ?. The reflector (10) is closed by a hood (30) which, along first walls (31) thereof close to the first edges (16), have refracting elements (35) to cause the luminaire to emit light at small angles to the light emission window (15), within the cut-off angle ?. The luminaire is suitable to be used for under canopy lighting of a petrol station and to signal to the distance that the station is open, without dazzling oncoming drivers. The method involves the use of the luminaire mounted to the ceiling of the canopy.

  • Publication number: 20060044805
Abstract: The luminaire has a concave reflector (1) with an optical center (2) on an optical main axis (3), in an optical main plane (4). A screen (6) extends along the main axis (3) up to a light emission window (5). The reflector (1) has a first facetted reflector portion (10) at the first side of the main plane (4), which extends through the main plane (4) and which may be curved pardboloidally, the optical center (2) being its focus and the main axis (3) being its axis. A second facetted reflector portion (20) is present at the other side of the main plane (4) and may be curved parabolically, having a secondary axis (22) passing through and a focus lying in the optical center (2). The secondary axis (22) is tilted with respect to the main axis (3) through acute angles in the main plane (4) as well as out of said plane (4).

  • Patent number: 6808299
Abstract: The luminaire comprises a reflector body (1) which has a reflecting coating (2) on its reflection side (3), and means (4) for accommodating an electric lamp on the reflection side (3). The reflection side (3) has an area (31) with a metal reflecting surface. The area (31) may have a metal sheet cover (32). The cover (32) may follow the surface of the area (31), or it may be spaced apart therefrom. The luminaire benefits from the low absorption of light by the coating (2), and from the high specular reflection of metal in the area (31) to give a high light intensity in a direction determined by the position of the area (31) with respect to a lamp accommodated by the means (4).
