One or more substantially rigid straps or similar elements are attached to the front shell and extend to the interior of the rear shell. A cam mechanism or similar device is included on the rear shell for securing the straps directly or indirectly against the interior of the rear shell to prevent longitudinal movement of the front shell relative to the rear shell once the helmet is adjusted to a desired length. Alternatively, the one or more straps may be attached to the rear shell and the cam mechanism may be included on the front shell.

Abstract: The present invention provides a leg pad comprising a shin guard and a strap. The strap comprises a first section, a second section and a third section. The first section affixes the strap to the shin guard and comprises a rear surface for facing the shin guard and a front surface that comprises a front affixing portion. The second section extends from the first section and comprises a rear surface. The third section extends from the second section and comprises a rear surface that has a rear affixing portion. In use, the rear surface of the second section faces a back portion of the wearer's leg and the third section at least partially overlaps the first section such that the user can engage the rear affixing portion with the front affixing portion for securing the leg pad to the leg.

Abstract: A method of making a protective pad, which comprises fastening a plurality of sections together to create an outer shell, providing an inner shell made of a more rigid material than the sections making up the outer shell, fastening the inner shell to the outer shell (thereby to form a composite shell) and fastening the composite shell to a padding liner. The use of plural sections forming the outer shell reduces manufacturing costs. An overlay may be placed over the outer shell to conceal the areas where the sections making up the outer shell are fastened together. Fastening the composite shell to the padding liner may include passing through a thinned out portion of the hard inner shell, or it may bypass the inner shell altogether, thus avoiding the use of heavy duty stitching equipment. The step of fastening the inner and outer shells may include gluing rather than stitching.

The shirt comprises a torso portion having a head opening and a lower trunk opening; and first and second sleeves, each of the first and second sleeves comprising biceps, elbow and forearm portions and a gripping zone provided on one of the biceps, elbow and forearm portions. The gripping zone is made of a material having a coefficient of friction sufficient for preventing movement between said shirt and an elbow pad worn by the sports player.
