  • Publication number: 20140024735
Abstract: The disclosure includes a process for preparing cross-linked bitumen/polymer compositions without adding a cross-linking agent, the process comprising contacting at least one bitumen with at least one polymer, and subjecting a mixture of the bitumen and the polymer to electromagnetic wave radiation in a high frequency and/or microwave range.

  • Publication number: 20060011618
Abstract: The present invention provides for a system for effecting microwave assisted processes, the improvement comprising the combination of a source for generating microwave radiation, for example with a solid state generator, a self-adjusting cavity for receiving microwave radiation and for receiving a sample to be treated with the microwave radiation; and a coaxial cable for transmitting microwave radiation from the source to a cavity containing the sample, the coaxial cable is directly associated with the cavity whereby a sample in the cavity is adapted to directly receive the microwave radiation from the coaxial cable.

  • Patent number: 5175406
Abstract: A resonant high-frequency or micro-wave applicator for the thermal treatment of a flat material is disclosed. This applicator comprises a flat capacitor between the plates of which the material moves and an inductor which is constituted by a metal band extending transversely the plate acting as hot electrode. The inner face of the plate acting as ground electrode is divided into elementary sections by an assembly of longitudinal grooves. Preferably, the same applies to the inner faces of the plate acting as hot electrode and the inductor.

  • Patent number: 4935253
Abstract: The invention consists of the following steps:(a) continuously feeding n1 containers with fresh liquid egg white and n2 containers with fresh liquid egg yolk, the containers having the same shape and being made of a material inert to microwaves, the sum of n=n1+n2 being equal to at least two and n1 being either equal to n2 or different from n2 by one unit,(b) subjecting each liquid egg product to the action of microwaves so that it coagulates in the container, in the form of a homogeneous layer, without however reaching the hard cooked state,(c) extracting the layers from the containers and superposing the extracted layers so that a layer based on liquid egg white alternates with a layer based on liquid, egg yolk, and(d) subjecting the superposed layers to a complementary heat treatment to achieve the desired degree of cooking while at the same time ensuring the complexing of the different layers.

  • Patent number: 4780585
Abstract: An alternating current with a frequency comprised between 1 MHz and 10 GHz is generated in a portion of the conductor element (38) limited by two short circuits (12, 13), thereby causing a heating by Joule effect of said conductor element portion. To generate said current, the electromagnetic energy emitted by the microwave or high-frequency generator (1) emitting at the selected frequency is electrically or magnetically coupled by means of an applicator (2, 7) to the conductor element portion acting as antenna tuned on the emission frequency of the generator (1). Application, among other things, to the homogeneous coating of a conductor element, for example based on carbon fibres, carrying a continuous element, for example based on carbon fibres, carrying a continuous or discontinuous coating of thermoplastic material susceptible of heating and melting by thermal conduction.

  • Patent number: 4650345
Abstract: The temperature of a planar material (8) moving down a process path is measured by causing the material to pass through two openings (3,4) made in a waveguide (1) in such a way that the material effectively does not cut the electric field lines present on the walls of the guide (1) and also so the material (8) passes through the guide in a direction generally parallel to the electric field in the propagation mode of the waveguide and through a region of maximum field strength. The temperature of the planar material (8) is determined by measuring the thermal noise emitted by the material (8) as it passes through the slotted waveguide (1). The slots (3,4) for a rectangular waveguide operating in the TE.sub.10 mode are made along the centerline of the two broad sides of the guide.
