  • Patent number: 6691613
Abstract: The invention relates to a printing cylinder that includes a support cylinder, at least one printing sleeve for mounting the support cylinder, and a recess provided on a lateral face of the sleeve and emerging from an interior wall, and at least one indexing device borne by the support cylinder and that can project from it, the recess and each indexing device cooperating in order to mount the sleeve on the support cylinder while registering its position. According to the invention, the printing sleeve has at least one ring in an extension of an interior wall and which projects from the lateral face. The ring protects the sleeve from impacts between it and the indexing device during mounting of the sleeve on the support cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6283026
Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic closing device for air passage holes in a support cylinder, or compression sleeves used in printing applications. The automatic closing devices of the invention are inserted into the thickness of the wall of the cylinder and comprises a support, a seat with an interior passage and a valve mobile in translation in the support. The support is capable of assuming two positions, the first in which the valve comes into tight contact with the aforementioned seat and the other in which it is retracted so as to allow for a passage.

  • Patent number: 5706731
Abstract: A flexographic printing cylinder comprises a hollow support cylinder with a supply of compressed air to within the hollow support cylinder. Nozzles pass through the support cylinder to convey the compressed air from the inside to the outside of the support cylinder. An interpolated sleeve tightly fits over the support cylinder, and a thin sleeve tightly fits over the interpolated sleeve. Nozzles extend through the interpolated sleeve in registry with the nozzles through the support cylinder to convey compressed air to the thin sleeve. Structure is provided for selectively opening and closing the nozzles of the interpolated sleeve.
