  • Patent number: 8029341
Abstract: A polishing tool (1) for finishing an ophthalmic lens includes a drive plate (4) which is equipped with elements (2) for mounting same to the spindle of a polishing machine; a removable polishing pad (5) designed to be rotated by the drive plate (4); positioning elements to block the radial movement of the pad (5) in relation to the plate (4) as well as to enable the pad (5) to slide axially in relation the plate (4); retaining elements which limit the axial sliding movement of the pad (5) in relation to the plate (4) to a pre-determined sliding range; and elements for stopping the rotational movement, having at least one tooth which can be engaged in a slot having a corresponding shape, one of the elements being provided on the plate (4) and the other on the pad (5).

Date of Patent: October 4, 2011
Assignee: Essilor International (Compagnie Generale d'Optique)
    Inventors: Jean-Francois Belly, Laurent Chabin
  • Patent number: 7500908
Abstract: The pneumatic blocking support which is used to block an optical lens (200) on a machine or device has means (3) for fixing it on a corresponding element of the machine or device. The blocking means comprise a central cavity (8) and a joint (9) having at least one annular part (9) against which the lens rests in order to define a depression chamber (11) with said cavity and joint. The blocking elements include stop members (10) which are created in order to provide the optical lens with a rigid seat after the elastic compression of the joint.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6913356
Abstract: A method of fitting a holding block to a semifinished ophthalmic lens blank intended to have a predetermined prism, which method includes the following steps: positioning the blank on a fixed base so that the finished face of the blank bears conjointly on a plurality of bearing points of the base, defining an orientation of the holding block, orienting the holding block in the defined manner, and fixing the holding block to the finished face, the step of defining the orientation of the holding block including the following steps: taking account of the three-dimensional shape of the finished face and the position of the bearing points, deducing therefrom the orientation of the finished face, taking account of a predetermined prism, and deducing from the orientation of the finished face and the predetermined prism the orientation of the holding block.
