Patent number: 11754185Abstract: A metal O-ring is provided. The metal O-ring has a sidewall with an outer surface and an inner surface. The outer surface of the sidewall is machined to selectively thinning the thickness of the sidewall, such that the sidewall of the of the metal O-ring has a plurality of thicknesses equal to or less than a maximum thickness and equal to or more than a minimum thickness. Selectively thinning the sidewall by machining the outer surface allows for control of the elasticity of the metal O-ring. Controlling the elasticity of the metal O-ring, and potentially increasing the spring back, may provide for increased contract pressure at a sealing interface, which would facilitate sealing. The machined outer surface of the metal O-ring are generally machined to flat surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2021Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: Technetics Group LLCInventors: Mark S. Whitlow, James S. Hicks, Florent Ledrappier, Jean-Francois Juliaa, Christophe Darles

Patent number: 9890860Abstract: The disclosure relates to a seal inserted between two elements having different coefficients of thermal expansion, the seal includes a first and a second metallic contact portion spaced along an axial stacking direction orthogonal with respect to a radial direction. Tight connection means between the first and second contact portions allow a relative movement between the first and second contact portions along the radial direction. A first and a second sliding part are respectively coupled in translation along the radial direction with the first and second contact portions and are stacked so as to be able to slide in relation to each other along the radial direction.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2010Date of Patent: February 13, 2018Assignees: COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE ET AUX ENERGIES ALTERNATIVES, TECHNETICS GROUP FRANCE SASInventors: Magali Reytier, Jacques Besson, Lionel Bruguiere, Jean-François Juliaa

Patent number: 8840117Abstract: A static sealing element (1) includes an elastic tapered washer (10) the deformation of which enables a force to be transmitted, a casing (18) to establish the seal, and two supporting washers (27 and 28) which transmit the forces originating from the elastic washer (10) to the curved edges (20, 21) of the casing (18) so as to exert on them a pressure which maintains the seal. The casing (18) made thus be manufactured from a ductile material, but one which is less deformable than the customary elastomers.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2011Date of Patent: September 23, 2014Assignees: Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives, Technetics Group France SASInventors: Laurent Guimet, Ludovic Morice, Michel Lefrancois, Jean-François Juliaa

Patent number: 8594266Abstract: A method including placing around the shoulder of the lid a ring-shaped gasket formed by a metal strip maintained on the vertical wall of the shoulder by self-maintaining members firmly attached to the strip, placing the lid bearing the ring-shaped gasket above the vessel by positioning it at a determined height, carrying out a cleanliness inspection of the gasket plane, lowering and laying the lid on the vessel so that the end side edges of the strip will come into contact with a horizontal wall of the lid and of the vessel flange respectively and attaching this lid on the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2010Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: Areva NPInventors: Jean-Yves Ricot, Florent Ledrappier, Ludovic Morice, David Lombard, Jean-François Juliaa

Publication number: 20130292910Abstract: Compression between two blocks (5, 6) forming a dynamic seal (13) between a rotor (2) and a stator (1) is applied by an inflatable seal (7) located in a groove. When blocks (5 and 6) must be cuttable, in other words divided into two parts to be assembled around the shaft (2), the originally linear seal (7) is wound in the groove and its ends are in contact with each other. It applies a uniform compression around the circumference and its placement does not require major disassembly of the equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2011Publication date: November 7, 2013Applicant: TECHNETICS GROUP FRANCE SASInventors: Grégory Tocheport, Jean-Jacques Darque, David Lombard, Stéphane Guignard, Laurent Guimet, Bruno Rouchouze, Jean-François Juliaa

Publication number: 20110175299Abstract: A seal including an outer envelope that may be made of PTFE, and an inner core including an air-permeable sack partially filled with a granular fluid. When bearing surfaces that are to be sealed are near one another, the sack is squashed, an upper volume of air escapes to the outside, and grains transmit a substantial contact pressure between lips of the envelope and the bearing surfaces. They may have moved during the squashing movement so as to even out the pressure by redistributing themselves in the sack even if there is a significant lack of flatness between the bearing surfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2009Publication date: July 21, 2011Applicants: COMMISS.
