  • Patent number: 6996111
Abstract: A node for a telecommunications network has a segmentation and reassembly module (SAR module) to perform segmentation and reassembly (SAR) on cells received by the node, the SAR module particularly providing Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) and Virtual Path Identifier (VPI) translation (referred to as VCI/VPI translation), and has a direct memory access (DMA) mechanism for a storage external to the SAR module, the SAR module performing a first DMA access when the VCI/VPI translation are representative of an error code correcting (ECC) procedure to be carried out in the node, and the SAR module performing a second DMA access when the VCI/VPI translation corresponds to a message that does not require a local ECC procedure. A coder/decoder module performs an ECC procedure on the cells. A controller controls the coder/decoder module to perform an error correcting procedure in response to the detection of the first DMA access. The first DMA access uses a first address and the second DMA uses a second address.

  • Patent number: 6961337
Abstract: A system and method for performing interleaved packet processing. A packet includes a source address bit pattern and a destination address bit pattern that are processed by a task processor in accordance with a data tree. A first bank of registers is utilized to load an instruction to be executed by the task processor at nodes of the data tree in accordance with the source address bit pattern. A second bank of registers is utilized for loading an instruction to be executed by the task processor at nodes of the data tree in accordance with the destination address bit pattern. A task scheduler enables the first bank of registers to transfer an instruction loaded therein for processing by the task processor only during even time cycles and for enabling the second bank of registers to transfer an instruction loaded therein for processing by the task processor only during odd time cycles.

  • Patent number: 6950424
Abstract: Data communication system of the type wherein a plurality of contiguous transmission networks constitute an Autonomous System (AS) using the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol for the exchange of information. The system is divided into several areas including an area 0 or backbone responsible for distributing routing information between the other areas. The backbone is divided into two sub-areas and comprises at least a pair of adjacent splitting routers. The first splitting router is included in one sub-area and the second splitting router is included in the other sub-area. The topological data base of each splitting router is configured to define a high metric for the link between the splitting routers in order to prevent any type of data traffic other than link-state messages (LSA) from being transmitted between the splitting routers.

  • Patent number: 6950429
Abstract: Data transmission system for transmitting packets of data from a source workstation (10) to a destination workstation (18) wherein the packets of data are transmitted over at least an IP network (14) between an ingress node (16) connected to the source workstation and an egress node (20) connected to the destination workstation, wherein each router within the intermediary nodes along the data path from the ingress node to the egress node determines the best route in a routing table defined by the contents of a field contained in each packet of data being received. For this, the router of the ingress node comprises a configuration table which defines the contents of the TOS field in function of information associated with the 4/5 level protocol such as TCP or UDP.

  • Patent number: 6892303
Abstract: The present invention relates to computer viruses and more particularly to a method and system for caching anti-virus file certificates. Each anti-virus certificate associated with a file comprises a file signature. The file signature is generated by a virus-free certificate authority, which avoids the system, which receives the file to check this file for all existing viruses. The virus-free certificate authority validates the file against all known viruses, using one or several anti-virus checkers. In case of new viruses, only the virus-free certificate authority is changed and the only process performed by the system receiving the file is to verify the file against the file signature included in the virus-free certificate, and to filter the file according predetermined rules. The present invention drastically simplifies the computing resources for detecting viruses on network devices such as IP Routers and Firewalls.

  • Patent number: 6888884
Abstract: A method and system for dynamically inverting an A symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) system. The ADSL system includes a central exchange equipment (CE) connected to a service provider network and a user equipment (UE) connected to a user workstation. The CE and UE are interconnected by a PSTN link. The CE includes an ADSL transceiver and a splitter coupled between the CE transceiver and the PSTN link. The splitter includes a low-pass filter for separating low frequency voice signals from high frequency ADSL signals transmitted from the UE. In accordance with the method of the invention, an invert request message encoded as a tone sequence is generated by the UE and transmitted to the CE over the PSTN link. The tone-encoded invert request is received through the CE splitter low-pass filter and is decoded utilizing a tone decoder communicatively coupled between the CE splitter low-pass filter and the CE transceiver.
