  • Patent number: 4010837
Abstract: A syllabic keyboard controlled device in which a syllabic keyboard controls a non syllabic printer by means of a storage unit (memory unit). The storage unit comprises a main memory to which the syllabic keyboard transmits through coding matrices pulses which correspond to the characters assigned to the simultaneously depressed keys. The storage unit includes a device for reading in the main memory each code corresponding to a character, to a space, or to a subsidiary operation, and includes moreover a decoding matrix at the output of which is connected : either a non syllabic printer, or a system to produce a permanent or semi-permanent record which may control posteriorily a non syllabic printing mechanism, for example that of a typewriter, that of a Linotype (trade-mark), or a device for photo-composition or for photoprinting.

  • Patent number: 3990561
Abstract: In a syllabic keyboard-controlled device, an escapement mechanism comprising a cogged wheel provided with mobile cogs, each cog being displacable between a stop position and an escapement position. This device provides differenciated escapements. The length of each escapement comprises a number of a given interval which is equal to the number of cogs which where put in escapement position. This device may be combined with an escapement anchor, which is mobile between a stop position and an escapement position. The displacement of the anchor alone into stop position produces an escapement of a single interval. This displacement at the same time as the displacement into escapement position of one or several cogs augments the length of the escapement by the given interval.

  • Patent number: 3944042
Abstract: A syllabic keyboard and the devices through which its keys control different mechanisms and/or apparatus, for example : printers and/or other recording systems. The material structure of the keyboard, these devices and their arrangements have made possible different layouts of syllabic keyboards for different languages in which certain keys each control simultaneously up to five characters plus a spacing. Several character keys and spacing keys may be depressed simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 3944043
Abstract: In typewriters comprising groups of type-bars, each group having a distinct printing point, each group being supported by a particular sector and certain sectors being movable independently from the others:A shift mechanism which allows the typist to put all the sectors together in three different positions corresponding respectively to three different character cases, the mechanism allowing also to change the case position of certain sectors, each independently from the others.Certain sectors have a particular cushion on which rests the corresponding type bars. Other sectors have a common cushion. The shift mechanism comprises thin sheets which are each situated between the path of movement of the type bars which belong to two succesive groups in order to constitute each a support of the corresponding cushion, to avoid collisions between type bars of these two groups and to constitute a type bar guide between these two groups.
