  • Patent number: 5946300
Abstract: This device for transferring information between two digital signals includes means (26, 44; 62, 86) of selecting characteristics of a digital input signal, means (28, 46; 78, 94) of direct transmission to a digital output signal and means (28, 46; 80; 114) for the positioning within the latter, of elements of the input signal conveying first characteristics authorized, by the means of selection, to be transferred directly to the output signal, means (30, 32, 48, 50; 72, 74, 90, 92, 98) of measuring second characteristics of the input signal which are identified by the selection means, and means (78, 80, 102, 110) of modifying the output signal on the basis of the measurement values of the second characteristics so that the said second characteristics of the output signal and the input signal are identical.

  • Patent number: 4955029
Abstract: The device adapted to regulate the light power emitted by a laser diode (2) associated to an electric supply circuit (32) comprises a photosensor (6) providing an electric signal representing the mean optical power of the laser diode. A circuit (8) associated to the photodetector provides an error signal representing the deviation between the actual light power and an order power. The error signal is applied to a circuit (10) which controls a Peltier element (22) for cooling the laser. The supply circuit (32) either uses constant current or is controlled by a safety branch (30) which is operated in case of a sudden temperature variation of failure of the main servo control. The device may be particularly used in telecommunications.

  • Patent number: 3941993
Abstract: An illuminating device which employs prisms to concentrate light onto an operating area or field. The prisms are formed by an assembly of straight prism-segments which are combined into radial sectors the angular extent of which is such that the beams issuing from the source are reflected onto the field to form an area of approximately the same width as the field. Each sector thus illuminates the whole of the field, resulting in a great uniformity of illumination.Applicable to the illumination of operating tables and in general to the illumination of cavities and their walls.

  • Patent number: 3931735
Abstract: New and improved methods and apparatus exemplifying the present invention are disclosed herein for measuring the changes in total elongation of a drill string due to variations in the tensional forces acting thereon during a typical well drilling operation on a floating platform, measuring the changes in the total length of the drill string as it is moved into and out of the borehole from the platform, and measuring the changes in the position of the platform in relation to the upper end of the drill string which are caused by wave motion. Thereafter, these measurments are uniquely combined for producing an output signal which is representative of the changes in the borehole depth. The combined measurements are also converted for producing another output signal which is representative of the actual rate of penetration of a drill bit coupled to the drill string.
