  • Patent number: 5394628
Abstract: A ski boot having a shell surmounted by an upper having a rear opening for passage of the foot, and at least one tightening system of the upper on the lower part of the leg, a flexion control device both of amplitude and force of the upper in the frontward direction being located at the rear of the boot. The flexion control device includes an energy flap affixed to the shell base on which it is journalled via a hinge, the flap including a movable abutment constituted by its edges, capable of cooperating with a fixed abutment of the shell base from a position corresponding to the start of the flexion control.

  • Patent number: 5353528
Abstract: Ski boot having a rigid shell base surmounted with an upper including at least one front portion and one rear portion that are fastened, via at least a tightening system of the upper, on the lower part of the leg, and a flexion control device, both of amplitude and of force in the frontward direction located on the rear portion of the upper. The flexion control device includes an energy stirrup that is flexible and connected in a pivotable manner to the rear portion of the upper, this rear portion being pivotable on the shell base. The stirrup has at least one abutment adapted to cooperate with a complementary abutment obtained on the shell base when the upper is closed on the lower part of the leg of the skier in the skiing position.

  • Patent number: 5163238
Abstract: A ski boot, preferably of the rear-entry type, including an upper portion selectively movable between an open position and a closed position. A control element, such as a cable, is included which can be associated with an arrangement for maintaining the foot or lower leg relatively fixed within the boot, or an arrangement for modifying the flexion of the boot. An arrangement is provided for tensioning the control element, in response to movement of an upper portion of the boot toward a closed position, which is mechanically independent of an arrangement for maintaining the tension in the control element.

  • Patent number: 5086573
Abstract: An item of wearing apparel for receiving an extremity, such as a ski shoe or boot for receiving a foot, provided with an energy source supplying an energy consuming device, such as a heating device, and a device controlling a supply element of the energy consuming device connected between the energy source and the consumer device. The shoe or boot includes a device for detecting the presence of a foot within the boot so as to allow the opening of the energy supplying element alone when the boot is put on and to automatically cause the closing of this supply element as soon as the boot is removed.

  • Patent number: 5075983
Abstract: An item of wearing apparel, such as a shoe or boot, particularly for downhill or cross-country skiing, having a foot support zone, a sole, and an upper which may be tightened, in which the shoe or boot has a heating assembly located proximate the sole. The heating assembly includes a heating device such as a burner for producing heat, a plate for diffusion of the heat, the plate being located proximate the foot support zone, a source of fuel, a supply circuit for feeding fuel to the heating device, and a valve for regulating the feeding of fuel to the heating device. The energy supply is automatically turned off when the upper of the shoe or boot is loosened.

  • Patent number: 5062222
Abstract: A shoe or boot, particularly for downhill or cross-country skiing, having a foot support zone, a sole, and an upper, in which the shoe or boot has a heating assembly located proximate the sole. The heating assembly includes a heating device such as a catalytic burner for producing heat, a plate for diffusion of the heat, the plate being located proximate the foot support zone, a source of fuel, a supply circuit for feeding fuel to the heating device, a valve for regulating the feeding of fuel to the heating device, and a heating control device, wherein the fuel source includes an interchangeable fuel cartridge, and wherein the interchangeable fuel cartridge is received and held on the upper of the shoe or boot.

  • Patent number: 5033213
Abstract: An item of wearing apparel, such as a ski shoe or boot, provided with an energy source and an energy consuming device, such as a heater, and a mechanism for automatically terminating the energy supply as soon as the wearer removes the item of apparel. More specifically, the ski shoe or boot includes a shell base on which is journalled at least one movable upper element, such as a rear spoiler or a front cuff, to permit insertion and removal of the boot, wherein the boot includes a device controlling the energy supply of the consuming device. The boot further includes a linkage device between the movable upper element and the device controlling the energy supply so as to allow the energy supply of the consuming device only when the movable element of the boot is closed and to automatically cause the fuel supply to be shut off as soon as the movable element of the boot is moved toward the open position.

  • Patent number: 4711042
Abstract: An apparatus for closing and tightening a boot on the foot and the lower leg of a skier. The apparatus is to be used with a boot including first and second parts. One of the parts is displaceable with respect to the other of the parts. The apparatus includes at least one linking element, a traction apparatus for applying a traction force to the at least one linking element, and an apparatus for changing the direction of the at least one linking element. One portion of the at least one linking element is attached to the first part of the boot and the other portion is attached to either the second part of the boot or the foot. The traction apparatus is positioned on the boot, and the direction changing apparatus changes the direction of the at least one linking element as the at least one linking element extends from the first part of the boot to either the second part of the boot or the foot. In addition, the direction changing apparatus is positioned on the traction apparatus.
