  • Publication number: 20100277338
Abstract: Method and a system for positioning and tracking a mobile within an infrastructure. The method includes transmitting, from a first aerial, a first signal generated in accordance with a first characteristic for addressing specifically a first mobile, and the first aerial located at a position outside of the infrastructure; upon receiving the first signal and detecting the first characteristic, the first mobile generating and transmitting a second signal with a second characteristic; receiving, at the first aerial and other additional aerials, the second signal at respective reception times, the other aerials located at respective pre-determined positions outside of the infrastructure; determining a position of the first mobile based on: the respective reception times; the position of the first aerial; and the respective positions of the other aerials; and outputting the position of the first mobile to a display device, for display relative to a given location.

  • Patent number: 7826813
Abstract: There present description is directed to a method and a system for determining a time delay between a transmission and a reception of an RF signal in a noisy environment. The method comprises: transmitting the RF signal according to a transmit frequency pattern, the transmit frequency pattern comprising at least three pulses separated by a period of time, each one of the at least three pulses respectively being at each one of at least three different frequencies; receiving a received RF signal comprising the at least three pulses at the at least three different frequencies, each one of the at least three different frequencies associated to a receive phase change; comparing the receive phase change of one of the at least three different frequencies with the receive phase change of another one of the at least three different frequencies to obtain a dispersion phase difference; and calculating the time delay using the obtained dispersion phase difference.

  • Patent number: 7826800
Abstract: The present application describes a method and system for determining a time delay between a transmission and a reception of an RF signal in a noisy environment. The method comprises: transmitting the RF signal; shifting a phase of the RF signal after a first time period of the transmitting of the RF signal, starting at a known transition time; receiving a received RF signal comprising a received phase shift corresponding to the shifting of the phase of the transmitted RF signal, the received phase shift occurring at a receive transition time equivalent to a sum of the time delay and the known transition time; determining the receive transition time by detecting a time corresponding to the received phase shift; and calculating the time delay using the receive transition time and the known transition time.

  • Patent number: 7612708
Abstract: A system for tracking an object in space for position, comprises a transponder device connectable to the object. The transponder device has one or several transponder aerial(s) and a transponder circuit connected to the transponder aerial for receiving an RF signal through the transponder aerial. The transponder device adds a known delay to the RF signal thereby producing an RF response for transmitting through the transponder aerial. A transmitter is connected to a first aerial for transmitting the RF signal through a first aerial. A receiver is connected to the first, a second and third aerials for receiving the RF response of the transponder device therethrough. A position calculator is associated to the transmitter and the receiver for calculating a position of the object as a function of the known delay and the time period between the emission of the RF signal and the reception of the RF response from the first, second and third aerials. A method is also provided.
