  • Patent number: 9659685
Abstract: A fire-resistant safety cable may include: at least two electrical conductors; an insulating layer around each of the at least two electrical conductors in order to obtain at least two separate insulated elements; and/or an outer jacket surrounding the at least two separate insulated elements. The insulating layer may be formed from at least one polymeric material capable of being converted, at least on a surface of the insulating layer, into a ceramic state at high temperatures in a fire. The at least two separate insulated elements may be untwisted and arranged so as to be parallel to each other, side by side, and separated by a space. The outer jacket may at least partially fill the space. A thickness of the outer jacket may be approximately constant over an external surface of the at least two separate insulated elements.

  • Patent number: 9035187
Abstract: A cable (100) is proposed, comprising a protective sheath (130) wherein at least one conductor is housed. The protective sheath has a given thickness and an external diameter within a range of values defined by a predetermined standard. The cable also comprises at least one removable indicator strip (150): that extends longitudinally over at least one arc portion of the external circumferential surface of the protective sheath; that is made of a material enabling said at least one removable indicator strip to adhere to the protective sheath, while being capable of being detached from the protective sheath without altering it, by applying an extraction force per unit of width of said at least one removable indicator strip greater than a predetermined threshold; that has a thickness so that the external diameter of the protective sheath increased by the thickness of said at least one removable indicator strip is within said range of values.

  • Patent number: 8859903
Abstract: A fire-resistant safety cable may include at least two electrical conductors, an insulating layer around each of the at least two electrical conductors in order to obtain at least two insulated elements, and an outer jacket surrounding the at least two insulated elements. The cable may have, in cross-section, an external outline including at least two substantially plane faces that are substantially parallel to each other. The insulating layer may be formed from at least one polymeric material being adapted to be converted, at least on a surface of the at least one polymeric material, into a ceramic state at high temperatures in a fire. The at least two insulated elements may be mutually adjacent, side by side, with axes of the at least two insulated elements lying in a plane between the at least two substantially plane faces.

  • Patent number: 8723041
Abstract: A process for manufacturing an electric cable including at least one core including a conductor and an insulating coating surrounding the conductor includes the steps of: providing a polyolefin material, a silane-based cross-linking system and a foaming system including at least one exothermic foaming agent in an amount of 0.1% to 0.5% by weight with respect to the total weight of the polyolefin material; forming a blend with the polyolefin material, the silane-based cross-linking system and the foaming system; and extruding the blend on the conductor to form the insulating coating. An electric cable includes at least one core consisting of a conductor and an insulating coating surrounding the conductor and in contact therewith, the insulating coating consisting of a layer of expanded, silane-cross-linked polyolefin material having an expansion degree of 3% to 40%.

  • Patent number: 7829792
Abstract: A fire-resistant safety cable may include at least two electrical conductors separated from each other by at least one space. The cable may include a common insulating layer surrounding the at least two electrical conductors, the common insulating layer being formed from at least one polymeric material that is adapted to be converted, at least on a surface of the at least one polymeric material, to a ceramic state at high temperatures in a fire. The cable may include an outer jacket. The outer jacket may surround the common insulating layer. The cable may have, in cross-section, at least two substantially plane faces that are substantially parallel to a plane in which axes of the at least two electrical conductors lie. A process for manufacturing the cable may include feeding the at least two electrical conductors into an extrusion head and extruding the at least one polymeric material over them.
