  • Publication number: 20240017998
Abstract: There is provided a method for producing SC-BNNS and SC-BCNNS. A thermal plasma is provided at a plasma zone of a reaction chamber having an outlet opposite the plasma zone, a condensation zone and a growth zone downstream. The gas flows in the chamber have a laminar flow which provides a controlled residence time in a nucleation temperature field. A plasma-source gas flow is provided and has a plasma-source gas, and a sheath gas flow including nitrogen-containing gas to provide an excess of nitrogen. A boron source is provided to the thermal plasma through a probe to provide boron atomic species. A carbon source is provided for the production of SC-BCNNS. The process includes a controlled quenching step in the condensation zone followed by two-dimensional nucleation of SC-BNNS or SC-BCNNS in the growth zone, and the pressure in the chamber is maintained between 20 to 200 kPa.

  • Patent number: 10817806
Abstract: A system for generating a carpooling prediction includes a computer that performs the operations of receiving a query for a ride match location from a user computing device. The query includes a given destination location and target arrival time for reaching the destination. The computer is operative to transmit coordinates to the user computing device of a location where a user can find other users willing to rideshare. For a number of passengers that are looking for a ride to a given destination during a given time, the computer is operative to predict a number of drivers that will pass or end at the given destination during a given time interval that includes the target time. For a number of drivers that are looking to offer a ride to a given destination during a given time, the computer is further operative to predict a number of passengers that will pass or wait at a given node, for example, along the drivers' route or alternate route, for reaching the destination.

  • Patent number: 10025779
Abstract: A system and method predict an optimal machine translation system for a first of a set of users. The method includes, for each of the users, providing a respective user profile which includes rankings for at least some machine translation systems from a set of machine translation systems. The user profile of the first user is updated, based on the user profiles of at least a subset of the other users. The updating includes generating at least one missing ranking. An optimal translation system for the first user from the set of machine translation systems is predicted, based on the updated user profile computed for the first user.

  • Publication number: 20180129944
Abstract: A multi-page document is represented as a graph in which extracted page objects of the document, such as text blocks, are represented by nodes that are connected by intra-page edges and/or cross-page edges. The nodes and edges of the graph are associated with respective sets of features, the edge features distinguishing between intra-page and cross-page edges. A trained first model jointly predicts class labels for page objects, based on node and edge features. Page labels for the pages may be predicted, based on the page object predictions, optionally enforcing a constraint, such a maximum of one class label for a given class, per page. The pages can be assigned a respective category, based on the predicted classes of the page objects and respective features. Information based on the predictions is output, such as one or more of the page object class labels, the page labels, and information based thereon.

  • Patent number: 9779284
Abstract: A system and method for preserving privacy of evidence are provided. In the method, an encrypted first image is generated by encrypting a first image acquired at a first location with a symmetric cryptographic key that is based on first information such as a license plate number extracted from the first image and first metadata associated with the first image, such as a time at which the first image was acquired. When a link is established between a second image and the first image, for example, through visual signature matching, the symmetric cryptographic key can be reconstructed, without having access to the first image, but based instead on the first metadata and information extracted from the second image. The reconstructed symmetric cryptographic key can then be used for decryption of the encrypted image to establish evidence that the license plate number was indeed extracted from the first image.

  • Patent number: 9704153
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for wireless payment and information collection. A central system generates a personalized application including unique application and transaction identifiers, security keys, and signatures for a user device. The user device implements the personalized application in order to access the services of the associated network. Tags, capable of short-range communication with the user devices, are deployed to service access points of the associated network. The tags and user device mutually authenticate and share identifiers. Validation of the user device results in the tag updating an irreversible counter, generating transaction certificate, and logging this transaction information. The transaction certificate and a portion of the log are communicated to the user device, and service is granted. The user device transmits the transaction information and log to the central system for billing when a network connection is available.

  • Publication number: 20160045882
Abstract: A nanofluid includes a base fluid and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) dispersed in the base fluid. The MWCNTs have an outer surface provided with polar functional groups. The outer surface has decorated portions covered with nanoparticles and undecorated portions where the polar functional groups are exposed. A method prepares a nanofluid. In a first step, MWCNTs are grown on substrates by catalyst-free thermal chemical vapor deposition. In the following step, the MWCNTs' outer surface is functionalized to form polar functional groups covalently bonded thereto. Then, nanoparticles are deposited on the MWCNTs' outer surface such that the outer surface has decorated portions covered with the nanoparticles, while leaving undecorated portions where the polar functional groups are exposed. The resulting nanoparticle-decorated functionalized MWCNTs are then detached from the substrates and dispersed in a base fluid.

  • Patent number: 9224041
Abstract: An initial organizational table for a document is determined based on textual similarity between entries of the organizational table and target text fragments and not taking into account text formatting. A classifier is trained to identify text fragment pairs consisting of entries of the organizational table and corresponding target text fragments based at least in part on text formatting features. The training employs a training set of examples annotated based on the initial organizational table. The initial organizational table is updated using the trained classifier.

  • Patent number: 9218326
Abstract: A method for identifying header/footer content of a document, in order to sequence text fragments comprising recognizable text blocks as derived from the document. The textual variability of lines comprised of text blocks, including the different kinds of text blocks within the line is analyzed for assessment of textual variability. Header/footer zones are defined by textual content having a low textual variability. An alternative embodiment identifies pagination constructs by comparing selected text-boxes for similarity and proximity and clustering the text boxes satisfying a predetermined similarity value, wherein the clustered text boxes are deemed to comprise pagination constructs.

  • Publication number: 20150286632
Abstract: A system and a method for predicting the translation quality of a document are provided. The method includes receiving a translation quality estimate for each of a plurality of sentences of an input document which have been translated from a source language to a target language using machine translation. The translation quality of the translated input document is predicted based on the translation quality estimate for each of the sentences and parameters of a model learned using translation quality estimates for sentences of training documents and respective manually-applied translation quality values. The parameters of the model may include an exponent for an aggregating function and a set of weights, each of the weights being mapped to a respective one of a predefined set of translation quality estimates for weighting the translation quality estimates in the aggregating function.
