  • Patent number: 8068420
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for temporal slaving in a packet data transmission network, each data packet comprising a time label, comprising means of temporary storage. According to the invention, the said device is such that:—the means of temporary storage have a storage capacity able to record data received for a predetermined time (IPDV) dependant on the characteristics of the network, the said device furthermore comprising—means for regenerating a local reception clock as a function of the time label of the incoming packets,—means for reading the data in the buffer memory at an instant dependent on the said predetermined time (IPDV) and on the regenerated local clock.

Inventors: Jean-Luc Soulard, Laurent Marie, Hubert Prioul, Xiaofeng Cao
  • Patent number: 7769055
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of transmitting, via a sending device, a data stream made up of data packets, at least some of these packets including time references for synchronizing the clocks of the sender and the receiver. The method includes at least a correction of the time references by the sender so as the receiver can offset the jitter introduced by the transmission. The invention is used to offset these losses of accuracy. The invention concerns also the device and corresponding receiver and reception method.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 11, 2006
Date of Patent: August 3, 2010
    Assignee: Thomson Licensing
Inventors: Benoit Le Ludec, Jean-Luc Soulard, Bertrand Provost, Jérome Tas
  • Patent number: 7561568
Abstract: A multiplexing device is coupled to various coding devices. The multiplexing device does not attempt to mutually synchronize the various coding devices but, instead, circumvents such synchronization while making it possible to work with the various coding devices and to obtain synchronous actions at the input of the multiplexer. In particular, the multiplexing device transmits control commands and an instant of action to each of the coding devices.

  • Publication number: 20060002410
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for multiplexing. The device is able to receive data packets from at least one coding device, some of the data packets comprising a time label, said device comprising a time reference and being able to transmit commands to the said coding device. According to the invention, the device is characterized in that it comprises: means for calculating an instant of action for the coding device at which it desires that the coding device perform the said command as a function of the instant at which it transmits the said command to the said coding device, of the time label of the data packets, of its time reference and of the maximum transfer time between the coding device and the multiplexing device, means for transmitting said instant of action and the said command to the coding device.
