  • Patent number: 6886393
Abstract: The invention relates to an installation for implementing a method for detecting a deposit (D) that might form inside a fluid transport pipe (2). According to the invention, the installation comprises: at least one production source (3) for producing a thermal gradient, the source being for mounting on an “active” zone (Za) of the outside surface of the pipe; at least one measurement sensor (7) for measuring heat flux, the sensor being for mounting on a zone (Zm) of the outside surface of the pipe situated relative to the active zone at a given distance in consideration of the length of the pipe; and control and monitoring means (5) connected to the production source (3) and to the measurement sensor (7), and adapted to detect when the heat flux corresponding at least in part to the applied thermal gradient and transmitted by the pipe exceeds a determined threshold indicative of the presence of a deposit inside the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5725781
Abstract: Sea water previously filtered and temperature controlled, and which includes added hydrogen is continuously pumped at a constant rate to a deoxygenation reactor containing a divided platinum catalyst on a granular activated carbon support. The deoxygenated sea water is continuously discharged from the reactor through a line. The divided platinum of the catalyst is present in a superficial layer of the support grains and the platinum dispersion in the catalyst grains is at least 10%.

  • Patent number: 4937007
Abstract: A process for inhibiting the deposit of paraffins in crude oils and petroleum fractions incorporating additives of the family of N-substituted succinimide ethers. The additives according to the invention make it possible, on the one hand, to maintain in dispersion the whole range of paraffins improving the flowing properties of crude oils and, on the other, to prevent the deposit of the heavier paraffins on the walls. Therefore, the process is effective during both the storage and the transportation of crude petroleum.

  • Patent number: 4758365
Abstract: This invention relates to polymeric additives useful for inhibition of the deposit of paraffins and improvement of the flow properties of crude oils and to compositions containing crude oils and such additives. The polymeric additive according to the invention consists of a polymer formed by units derived from one or more alkyl esters of unsaturated monocarboxylic acids, one or more unsaturated alpha, beta-dicarboxylic compounds in the form of diacids, low alkyl diesters or anhydrides and one or more monomers having ethylenic unsaturation of the general formula CH.sub.2 .dbd.CZ.sub.1 Z.sub.2, in which Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 are the same or different and represent hydrogen, a halogen, a saturated, unsaturated or aromatic hydrocarbon group or an ester or ether group. Compounds containing a crude oil and 5 to 4000 ppm and preferably 100 to 1500 ppm of the additive have much improved flow properties.
