  • Patent number: 9138006
Abstract: The present invention relates to Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains suitable for the production of baker's yeasts which are osmotolerant and which exhibit intrinsic resistance to weak organic acids. The strains of the present invention are obtained by means of a process of hybridization or of mutation of the industrial S. cerevisiae strain deposited on Jul. 8, 2010 with the CNCM [French National Collection of Microorganism Cultures] under number I-4341, or from an industrial strain related thereto via the Ty profile thereof and/or via quantitative trait locus mapping (QTL mapping).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 13, 2013
Date of Patent: September 22, 2015
    Assignee: LESAFFRE ET COMPAGNIE
Inventors: Jean-Marc Ladriere, Jean-Charles Bartolucci, Fabienne Sucher, Benoit Thomas
  • Patent number: 8679777
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel yeast strains intended for alcohol production. The present invention also relates to yeasts obtained by cultures of said yeast strains and use thereof for producing alcohol, in particular in a toxic fermentation medium. Another object of the invention relates to a method of selecting yeast strains that are resistant to a toxic fermentation medium.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 2010
Date of Patent: March 25, 2014
    Assignee: Lesaffre et Compagnie
Inventors: Jean-Michel Bavouzet, Jean-Marc Ladriere, Annie Tbaikhi, William Wyme

  • Publication number: 20060127976
Abstract: The invention relates to oxalate deficient A. niger strains for the production of a given enzyme, wherein the oxalate deficient strain produces at least the same amount of enzyme as the wild type strain it originates from under the same culture conditions. Preferably, the oxalate deficient A. niger strain produces more enzyme than the wild type strain it originates from under the same culture conditions. More preferably, the oxalate deficient A. niger strain is such that when the strain has been transformed with an expression construct comprising a gene coding for an enzyme, said strain produces at least the amount of the enzyme the wild type strain it originates from would produce under the same culture conditions, when the wild type strain has also been transformed with the same expression construct as the oxalate deficient strain. The invention also relates to method for obtaining such oxalate deficient A. niger strain.
