  • Patent number: 8530015
Abstract: A structural reinforcement comprising a hollow profile and a ribbed structure, the ribbed structure including a laminar structure of two facing sheets with a first layer of adhesive material that is foamable and located in between the two facing sheets, the ribbed structure having ribs with one or more ends and a second adhesive material that is provided over at least part of the ribs at the one or more ends to bond the ribs at the one or more ends to an interior surface of the hollow profile.

  • Publication number: 20070122510
Abstract: Components useful for the provision of structural reinforcement of hollow profiles and/or sealants and/or acoustic baffles are provided. The components comprise a carrier in which is formed a plurality of cavities for receipt of foamable material, the foam may then be foamed to bridge the gap between the carrier and the internal surface of the hollow profile to form a bond there between. Different types of foam may be employed in different cavities to provide a multifunctional component.

  • Publication number: 20050285292
Abstract: Laminar mouldings including a foamable material adhering to a moulded substrate are produced by providing a piece of foamable material within a mould and moulding the substrate within the mould at a temperature above the normal foaming temperature of the foamable material so that it adheres to the foamable material but does not cause it to foam. The moulding process may be injection moulding or blow moulding and the mouldings are useful as acoustic baffles or structural reinforcement for automobiles.
