    Abstract: The device comprises, inside a cylindrical case (3) of the exhaust manifold (2), a catalyst body (12) in a central position and means (14) for adsorbing hydrocarbons in a peripheral position around the catalyst body (12). Preferably, the catalyst body (12) is disposed in an exhaust pipe (8) constituting an end part of an exhaust line (8a) and the adsorption means (14) is disposed in a peripheral annular space between the pipe (8) and the inner surface of the case (3) of the manifold.
