Jean-Michel Berals has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 8226428
Abstract: In an electrical connection for high-voltage or medium-voltage switchgear, a bar (2) is inserted in a recess (6) provided with a projection (10). In the invention, the dimensions are established so that the axes (AA, BB) of the bar (2) and of the projection (10) can be inclined relative to each other. Spring-forming conductor elements (12, 14) establish the electrical connection even in the event of tilt. A high-performance electrical contact can thus be obtained compactly, which makes it possible to perform assembly/disassembly operations on electrical equipment without any additional element of the telescopic ferrule or separable bar type.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 21, 2006
Date of Patent: July 24, 2012
    Assignee: Areva T & D SA
Inventors: Alain Arnaud, Jean-Pierre Roulet, Jean-Michel Berals

  • Patent number: 6797875
Abstract: The gas-insulated multi-phase line is made up of sections, each of which is formed by metal cladding filled with a dielectric gas under pressure and containing at least three phase conductors disposed in a triangle configuration. Two adjacent sections are connected together via a connection module whose metal cladding is locally made up of a plurality of tubular portions, each of which is filled with dielectric gas and has a single phase conductor passing through it, constituting a passive electrical connection.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 5, 2001
Date of Patent: September 28, 2004
    Assignee: Alstom
