Patent number: 10386870Abstract: A first module includes a thermostatic element and a main seal. The main seal is, axially movable to open and close a main valve, and is linked to a movable part of the thermostatic element to open the main valve. A spring biases the movable part towards the fixed part of the thermostatic element, controlling the closing of the main valve. A bracket supporting the spring is interposed axially between the spring and a fixed casing. A cradle supports the first module, and removably inserts the first module therein, by axially interposing the cradle between the first module and the spring. The cradle includes a by-pass seal axially movable to open/close a by-pass valve when the main valve is opened/closed. The cradle is linked to the bracket in an axially movable manner, with the spring interposed axially and held fixedly to the bracket to keep the spring compressed.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2015Date of Patent: August 20, 2019Assignee: VERNETInventor: Jean-Michel Roman

Patent number: 10274976Abstract: A valve includes a housing which defines openings for the inlet and outlet of a fluid. The valve also includes a sleeve for controlling the circulation of the fluid through the housing. The movement of the sleeve along its axis is controlled by a thermostatic element. In order to improve the maximum flow of fluid that the valve can take in, the valve further includes a seat part, which is fixedly mounted in the housing and which includes a fluid-tight wall. One of the two opposite surfaces of the wall extends transversally to the axis of the sleeve and defines a seat bearing the sleeve. The other one of these two opposite surfaces defines, between it and a wall of the housing according to the direction of the axis of the sleeve, a free volume wherein exists one of the openings and via which the fluid flows, being distributed over the entire periphery of the sleeve when this sleeve is in its open position.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2011Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: VERNETInventor: Jean-Michel Roman

Publication number: 20170308105Abstract: A thermostatic element, a main seal, that can be moved axially relative to a fixed seat to open and close a main valve and linked to the movable part of the thermostatic element to open the main valve, the main seal and the thermostatic element assembled together and forming a first module. A spring biasing the movable part towards the fixed part of the thermostatic element, controlling the closing of the main valve. A bracket supporting the spring and interposed axially between the spring and a fixed casing.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2015Publication date: October 26, 2017Applicant: VERNETInventor: Jean-Michel ROMAN

Patent number: 9709999Abstract: An element with a cup containing a thermally expanding material, a piston capable of translational movement along its axis, a rigid guide for guiding the piston, a seal for sealing in the thermally expanding material having an annular overall shape, centered on the axis and through which the piston passes axially, and which includes first and second opposite axial parts against which the guide and cup press respectively in an antagonistic manner to compress the seal around the piston, and an anti-extrusion washer mounted coaxially around the piston and axially interposed between the guide and first part of the seal. The first part of the seal around the piston can be supercompressed to make the degree of compression equal to a value strictly higher than that associated with an operational thermostatic element formed by the cup, piston, guide, seal and anti-extrusion washer assembled with one another without the supercompression.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2013Date of Patent: July 18, 2017Assignee: VERNETInventors: Jean-Michel Roman, Guillaume Gautier Graindorge

Publication number: 20150083814Abstract: An element comprising a cup containing a thermally expanding material, a piston capable of translational movement along its axis, a rigid guide for guiding the translational movement of the piston, a seal for sealing in the thermally expanding material having an annular overall shape, centered on the axis and through which the piston passes axially right through, and which includes first and second opposite axial parts against which the guide and the cup press respectively in a substantially antagonistic manner so as to compress the seal around the piston, and an anti-extrusion washer mounted coaxially around the piston and axially interposed between the guide and the first part of the seal.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2013Publication date: March 26, 2015Inventors: Jean-Michel Roman, Guillaume Gautier Graindorge

Publication number: 20100186831Abstract: The valve (10) comprises a hollow body (12) for receiving a thermostatic member (50) that comprises a cup (501) for receiving an expandable wax and a slider (503) capable of displacement due to the wax expansion, a first pair of connectors (141, 142) defining a first fuel path and a second pair of connectors (161, 162) defining a second fuel path, the hollow body (12) further defining a short-circuit (60) between the rust and second fuel paths. The valve further includes an actuator (40) that can be operated from the outside of the body (12), wherein said actuator (40) is capable of moving the slider (503) from a short-circuit (60) free-passage position to a short-circuit closed position, and of maintaining the slider in said closed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2007Publication date: July 29, 2010Inventors: Jean-Michel Roman, Lionel Mabboux

Patent number: 7275697Abstract: A valve comprises a housing, a movable check mechanism that is suitable for regulating passage of a fluid between an inlet orifice and an outlet orifice of the housing, a stationary seat for receiving the check mechanism, and a thermostatic element that is provided with a body, which contains an expandable material, and a movable piston, with this body being stationary relative to the housing. In order to prevent excessive pressure from being generated in the valve, on a side of the check mechanism where the thermostatic element is arranged, the check mechanism and the piston are connected by a part that is integral with the valve and delimits a blind recess for receiving the piston, with a base of the recess forming a stop for the piston when a difference in pressure on either side of the check mechanism is less than a predetermined value, while a wall of the recess forms a surface for sliding contact with the piston when this difference in pressure is greater than this predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2004Date of Patent: October 2, 2007Assignee: Vernet S.A.Inventors: Jean-Michel Roman, Lionel Mabboux
