  • Patent number: 5241329
Abstract: A raster output scanner which can be instantly varied between the most common spot densities, such as 240, 300, 400 and 600 spots per inch in the slow scan direction. The scanner produces a plurality of scans per inch, either by scanning with one beam or several simultaneous beams, the number of scans per inch being a common denominator of all of the spot densities. For example, for the above spot densities, 1200 scans per inch would be required. Then each scan is independently modulated so that the correct number of spots per inch are generated. Thus, for example, if 4 consecutive scans are used to create one spot, then the spot density will be 300 spots per inch.

  • Patent number: 5239544
Abstract: The converter comprises a memory (SRAM) having first and second ports, a first port management circuit (SPM) connected to the first port, to an incoming synchronous multiplex line (ME) and to an outgoing synchronous multiples line (MS), and a second port management circuit (APM) connected to the second port, to an incoming asynchronous link (LE) via an FIFO type packet memory (M) and to an outgoing asynchronous link (LS). An external command (MF) applied to the port management circuits selects the converter operating mode; in a first mode (M32) each time slot of a frame of a synchronous multiplexed signal is assigned to one communication channel and in a second mode (M1) all the time slots of a synchronous frame are assigned to one channel.

  • Patent number: 5236743
Abstract: A method for continuously coating individual fibers of a fiber bundle with resin. The individual fibers are grouped at a single grouping pint defined by a first concave supporting surface. The fibers are directed through a resin bath while spreading the fibers apart on a convex surface in a regularly spaced arrangement to form a continuous coating of resin along at least a portion of the fibers. The convex surface is at least partially described by an arc rotated about a horizontal axis, and comprises at least a portion of a surface of maximum radius R which is symmetrical relative to a vertical plane of symmetry passing through the fiber grouping point.

  • Patent number: 5201363
Abstract: The method comprises effecting the solidification of the metal in a continuous casting ingot mould constituted by two cooled rolls (2) rotating in opposite directions and disposed in confronting relation so as to define a casting space therebetween, continuously extracting from the ingot mould a solidified steel strip (3), and, below the ingot mould, subjecting the strip to a quenching medium (6) so as to cool it sufficiently rapidly to prevent formation of austenite. This medium may be formed by a quenching bath placed in a container (4) disposed under the rolls (2) and having a bottom provided with an opening (5) for the passage of the solidified strip (3). The quenching medium may also be formed by an inert gas in the liquid state blown onto the product by nozzles. The steel strips obtained are easier to shear and coiled at the output end of the casting line owing to the absence of martensite in the ferritic matrix.
