  • Publication number: 20230278892
Abstract: A method for treating water contaminated with hydrophobic and lipophilic molecules, comprising forming an emulsion of the contaminated water with an oil; and separating from the emulsion an oil part charged with a captured amount of the hydrophobic and lipophilic molecules and a treated water part, the treated water having an amount the in hydrophobic and lipophilic molecules reduced by the captured amount of hydrophobic and lipophilic molecules than an initial amount of the hydrophobic and lipophilic molecules in the contaminated water.

  • Patent number: 11679415
Abstract: A method of valuation of raw fines materials, comprising selectively screening, biotreatment or composting of raw fines materials or selection as fillers in composites. The method comprises screening the raw fines materials to Grade 1 comprising fines materials of a size of at most about 5 mm and Grade 2 comprising fines materials of a size larger than about 5 mm; and at least one of: A) bio-oxydating organic contaminants of the Grade 1; by adding and mixing organic amendment under controlled temperature, nutrients content and water content conditions and monitoring a content of organic contaminants until the content of organic contaminants stops decreasing; and B) composting the Grade 1; by adding and mixing organic amendment under controlled temperature, nutrients content and water content conditions, and monitoring pathogens content and respiration rate; and stopping the addition of organic amendment upon detection of absence of pathogens at a predetermined respiration rate.

  • Patent number: 5271845
Abstract: Waste sludges containing up to 35% weight percent hydrocarbon contaminants and up to 50% weight percent inorganic materials are treated to induce acclimation of indigenous microbes present therein, the acclimated indigenous microbes thereby releasing extra-cellular enzymes capable of catalyzing hydrolysis of at least the hydrocarbon contaminants in the waste sludges. This step is pursued until a substantial increase of biological activity takes place in the waste sludges. Biological activity is allowed to continue at an increased rate until the hydrocarbon contaminants are substantially biodegraded.

  • Patent number: 4778101
Abstract: A two-way envelope especially designed for use by Public Utilities, credit companies, mail order retailers and similar companies which have to send statements, bills, advertising brochures and/or offers and want to receive back payments or orders from their clients or consommers by return of mail. The envelope is made of one piece and comprises a flat pocket for receiving at least one document to be mailed or mailed back, and a flap integrally extending the upper edge of the top surface of this pocket. This flap comprises a first portion identical in size to the bottom surface of the pocket, and a second portion smaller in size than the top surface of the pocket. A first folding line is provided onto the flap adjacent the pocket to allow this flap to be folded upon the pocket to close with the first portion of the flap extending flat on the bottom surface of the pocket.
