  • Patent number: 9427823
Abstract: The head (9) of the cutting apparatus (4) of the laser comprises a gas supply through a device such as a barrel dispenser which chops the blowing flow rate, which produces a better discharge of the liquid slag melt by the laser beam (16, 18) out of the plate (19) to be cut. A measurement (36) of backscattered light is made in order to check the good quality of cutting, the amount measured being smaller if the cutting actually passes through the plate (19), and the frequency or the pressure of the blowing pulses is adjusted by a controlling device (39) to keep the measure to a minimum by optimizing the slag discharge conditions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 11, 2012
Date of Patent: August 30, 2016
Assignee: COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE ET AUX ENERGIES ALTERNATIVES

  • Patent number: 6847005
Abstract: A laser cutting device and method using a laser beam passing through an optical device producing a focal spot with a diameter between about 1.5 and 3 mm, and using a working gas flow. According to the device and method, the working gas flow is ejected from a nozzle at a pressure of between about 1 and 3 bars.

  • Publication number: 20040232123
Abstract: This invention relates to a laser cutting device (1) and method using a laser beam (6) passing through optical means (4, 5) producing a focal spot (8) with a diameter between about 1.5 and 3 mm, and using a working gas flow. According to the invention, the working gas flow is ejected from a nozzle (12) at a pressure of between about 1 and 3 bars.

  • Patent number: 6476350
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for laser cutting, having: means (2) for emitting a pulsed laser beam, with energy pulses E≧10 joules, at least one optical fiber (4) for transmitting the laser pulses, from the means of emitting the laser beam in the direction of a piece (6) to be cut, means of focusing the laser beam. The invention also relates to a method for the laser cutting, at a distance, of a piece to be cut. Application to the dismantling and/or taking apart of an installation.

  • Patent number: 5905832
Abstract: A connection device for injecting a laser beam into an optical fiber is provided. The device includes two half grips for receiving one end of the optical fiber in a gripped position, a connector body for receiving the grips and for holding them in an optical fiber gripped position, and a conduction cooling mechanism for cooling the two half grips.

  • Patent number: 5694209
Abstract: A device for sampling a section of a laser beam using an elongated reflective element that is moved in a main direction that corresponds to the direction of elongation of the element and in a direction perpendicular to the main direction. This sampling device forms a part of a laser beam analyzer and provides a small reflected beam segment to the analyzer that corresponding to the part of the laser beam that impinges upon the moving elongated reflecting element.

  • Patent number: 5463215
Abstract: A device for aligning a light beam with an optical fiber in order to introduce the beam into the fiber. The device includes a sample-taking device to sample part of the light beam which falls along the periphery of a circle which has a center on the axis of the fiber. The sampled light is then detected in order to analyze the angular distribution of the corresponding light intensity. The angular distribution becomes uniform when the axis of the light beam coincides with the axis of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 4734557
Abstract: A thin reflecting disk tightly bears on one edge of a case for defining a closed volume, means being provided in the latter for producing a negative pressure, and the bottom of the case is provided with supports arranged in parallel rows of three supoprts, a small beam being advantageously interposed between the disk and each row of supports when this mirror is used for focusing a laser beam, it is possible, by simply regulating the supports, to modify the shape of the disk so as to, e.g. obtain a rectilinear focal zone and a constant energy concentration of the beam along the zone.
