This device also comprises self-destruction means for the sub-munition operating after a predetermined delay, such means being activated by the extraction of a self-destruction lock. It is characterized in that the self-destruction lock is integral with the drag ribbon and is therefore extracted by the ribbon during its deployment.

    Abstract: A priming system for the explosive charge of a sub-munition carried on board a carrier comprises a main firing pin, a primer tube operative to move from a safety position to an armed position, at least two devices to lock the primer tube in the safety position before the sub-munition is ejected, and a self-destruct mechanism operative to destroy the sub-munition after a predetermined delay. A first one of the locking devices is formed of a cam operative to move from a cam safety position, in which it forms a limit stop preventing the primer tube from passing freely into an armed position, to a retracted position in which it allows free passage of the primer tube. The cam carries an auxiliary firing pin to ignite a delay cord of the self-destruct mechanism. A second one of the locking devices engage the primer tube by the percussion tip of the firing pin to hold the primer tube in a safety position.

    Abstract: A priming and self-destruct system for a munition having its own rotational movement about a longitudinal axis includes a trigger mounted to pivot about an axis parallel to the rotational axis of the munition under the effect of centrifugal force and against the action of a return spring. The self-destruct system also has a retention device for a secondary firing pin having its own spring in the armed position that is controlled by the trigger when the system is rotating about the axis of the munition. In the event of a malfunction, the secondary firing pin is released by the trigger when the rotation ceases, i.e., when the munition comes to rest on the ground. At that point and without delay, the secondary firing pin pierces the priming system and initiates the munition.

    Abstract: A mechanical system for self-destruction of a munition, in particular a carrier shell submunition, is provided in a munition having a warhead initiated by a pyrotechnic sequence, a main striker and a priming device composed of a slide movable between a safety position and an armed position and which has a device for priming the charge. The self destruction system includes a secondary striker mounted inside a receptacle of a slide and a control device to release the secondary striker after a preset delay. Secondary striker is integral with a holding element and held abutting a seat by the urging of an arming spring. The control device of the secondary striker has a corrosive agent designed to chemically attack the holding element to release it from its seat. When the holding element is released, secondary striker is translationally moved to contact the detonator to destroy the munition.

The first striker is adapted for striking the primer when the slider is in the armed position and when the sub-ammunition impacts a target. At least one device for blocking the slider in the safety position is provided.

The device improves the deployment of the stabilizing ribbon and the aerodynamic stabilizing and braking of a bomblet.
