  • Publication number: 20100254155
Abstract: Simulated candles and methods of simulating a candle are disclosed. The simulated candles include a cylindrical housing having an open top, a plurality of LEDs positioned in the housing, a plurality of optical fibers positioned to receive and transmit light from the plurality of LEDs through the open top of the housing, and a translucent conical light diffuser mounted about the plurality of optical fibers to simulate the appearance of a candle flame. The housing may simulate a candle taper, and may include simulated wax drippings. The simulated candle may include a power source and control electronics positioned within the housing. The color of the LEDs is selected to provide the realistic appearance of a lit candle, for example, the appearance of historically accurate candle, such as, a spermaceti candle.
