  • Patent number: 8459274
Abstract: Disclosed is an adjustable device enabling protection of the edge of a nail and positioning of a stencil on the nail. The adjustable device comprises a first sleeve on a first bar; a second bar attached such that the second bar is non-parallel to the first bar; a second sleeve on a second bar; and a cover attached to the first and second sleeves. The cover is configured to enable a stencil to be positioned under the cover, and configured such that adjustment of the cover is effectuated by sliding of the sleeves in a direction where the first and second bars diverge from each other, causing the cover to flatten and causing the sleeves to rotate, or by sliding of the sleeves in a direction where the first and second bars converge toward each other.

  • Publication number: 20110168197
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjustable device that positions itself on any finger in such a way as to protect the edge of the nail without the risk of smudging and enables the nail to be covered with a stencil. Clamp (1) consisting of two jaws (2, 3) hinged about a pin (4) enclosed in a spring (5) for closing the jaws (2, 3) on their stops (7). Pressure on the lever ends (6) opens the jaws (2, 3) and thus allows a finger to be placed between them. When the jaws (2, 3) close again, a guard (9), whose position can be adjusted by sliding sheaths (10) along the bars (8) of the upper jaw (2), which has reference marks (11), covers the end of the selected finger, allowing the nail to appear so that it can be covered with a stencil (13) positioned underneath the guard (9). The device according to the invention is particularly intended for doing work such as varnishing and decoration on the nail.
