  • Patent number: 6259934
Abstract: A radio communication device comprises a display screen, a keypad with keys, a first memory adapted to store temporarily a succession of characters received by radio and a processor programmed to work with the keys of the keypad, the first memory and the display screen in order to display on the screen said succession of characters received by radio. The processor is additionally programmed to respond to pressing at least one key by advancing from an on-screen display of the succession of characters stored in said first memory to an on-screen display for entry of data to be stored in structured form in a second memory, said data entry screen showing said succession of characters stored in said first memory to enable processing of at least a portion of that succession of characters as data to be stored in structured form in the second memory.

  • Patent number: 5870680
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conserving energy in a system including first and second devices interconnected by a data communication link via respective first and second interfaces in the first and second devices by sending a message over the link to put the interface in one device on standby. This message is sent by the interface in the other device. The first or second interface is reactivated by the other interface by electrical means via a physical medium of the link.

  • Patent number: 5327429
Abstract: In a method of sequencing signal processing in the reduced rate communication mode of a digital cellular radio system for conveying digitized speech communications between a terminal and a base station by means of traffic frames each comprising time slots the terminal has a time slot for sending to the base station and a time slot for receiving from the base station. The communication comprises blocks representing groups of speech samples. Each block is formed of sub-blocks each conveyed during traffic frame time slots. During each traffic frame the following are effected: a configuration process, the processing of a receive time slot, the processing of a send time slot, the processing of a send block during a send period outside the traffic frames, and the processing of a receive block during a receive period, a particular traffic frame.
