The material comprises at least one first layer (2) of combed-type fibres and a second layer (3) of combed-type fibres, the fibres of the first layer having a denier greater than that of the fibres of the second layer, the layers being joined to one another by needling. Application to absorbent sanitary articles.

Abstract: An absorbent garment for use in absorbing bodily fluids, having a front waist portion with front attachment means and a rear waist portion with rear attachment means, wherein the front and rear attachment means provide cooperating surfaces allowing attachment of said front and rear attachment means together, wherein the garment has a longitudinal axis extending substantially between mid-portions of the front and rear waist portions, and wherein the front attachment means extends transversely with respect to said longitudinal axis, wherein the front attachment means comprises separate attachment portions and at least one elastic section comprising elastic material, the attachment portions each being attached to said at least one elastic section such that movement of the attachment portions away from each other causes stretching of at least one elastic section.

Abstract: A composite nonwoven material having two external layers, formed of body fluid permeable nonwoven material, between which is arranged a synthetic fiber lap which is permeable to body fluids. The external layers are assembled between each other by thermal fusion according to a pattern forming a network of points and a central area of perforations. The composite nonwoven material can be used to make absorbent hygienic articles.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article of hygiene includes an absorbent pad disposed between an outer support sheet and an inner cover sheet and has two elasticized side flaps fastened to the cover sheet along the lengthwise edges of the article. Each flap is fastened to the cover sheet over the length of the article by a proximal portion of the flap positioned on an inner side of the absorbent pad, and is folded along the lengthwise direction. The flap is also fastened to the cover sheet in the folded state at end regions of the article so that a distal edge of the flap overlaps the proximal edge over the length of the article, and remains unattached in a region between the end regions to form a pouch.

Abstract: A coated non-woven material, method of making such material, and disposable absorbent hygiene article are disclosed. The coated non-woven material comprises a base layer made of a non-woven web of fibrous material and at least one layer of a thermoplastic film. The peel strength of the material is equal to or below 98.times.10.sup.-3 kN/m, as measured according to the NFT 76-112 standard, wherein the peeling angle is specified at 180.degree. and the pull speed is specified at 200 mm/mn. In one embodiment, the coated non-woven material is incorporated into a disposable diaper as a liquid-impervious backsheet.

Abstract: A composite nonwoven material includes a layer made of a nonwoven material which is permeable to body fluids and a sheet of carded synthetic fibers permeable to body fluids. The carded fiber sheet is bonded to the nonwoven layer solely by needling. An absorbent article of hygiene also includes the composite nonwoven material.

Abstract: A composite nonwoven material comprises at least one layer (2) of a carded voile of hydrophobic thermoplastic fibers, the said fibers being partially disoriented in at least a proportion of the thickness of the voile so that a proportion of the said fibers has an angular orientation in relation to the main plane of the fibers of the said voile, and a layer (3) made of voile of nonwoven of noncarded type of hydrophobic thermo-plastic fibers, the fibers of at least one of the layers being chosen from fibers with a low melting point, two-component fibers, mixtures of such fibers with fibers of high melting point and fibers mixed with a binder or one face of the voile of one of the layers is coated with a binder, the layers being joined together by heat-melting.
